Chapter 12

All day we stayed in Nana's place and I had to call Yasu because I know he is freaking out.

I dialed Yasu and sat down with my cigarette as Nobu was making coffee.

"Hai, Hai" I said when Yasu answered. Yasu was smoking too "Kusaki, please call me more often, I was worried"

"It's fine, dad, don't worry. Nana is doing just fine here so don't worry" I looked up. I called him dad when I was joking around.

"You knew I was gonna ask that" Yasu smiled, I can tell he did when he talked about Nana.

"Yeah I knew" I giggled "Are you okay?" He asked. I kinda hesitated and looked down.

"Kusaki?" He freaked out.

"I'm fine I was just thinking about something. Yasu... Please come to Tokyo. Nana misses you and there is a lot of law firms here, I swear. I already got you into 5" I smiled.

"Kusaki, seriously?" He said. He sounded plain but I know he was happy.

"Yup, you see. I can do tricks too" I said lighting another cigarette "You gonna come or what? Also we need a drummer"

Yasu hesitated "Kusaki..."

"Yeah, Yeah, your busy.... But I don't care, as a guardian you should be here"

It was already night and apparently Hachi got someone already to audition and he came in.

"So uhhhh" Nana looked at the picture and then at the boy in front of us.

He looked about my age and had a really good baby face "Nana what the hell do you need a resume for?" I said gabbing the paper and crumbling it.

Nana burnt it with her cigarette and Nobu got it and spilt beer on it while Hachi was fanning it.

"That's right! Shin, right? All I want to see is you playing, kid. Not some dumb resume" she said laying back.

The kid stood there and looked at Nana, Nobu, and me "Y'all are so cool"

Nana smiled and looked down "Alright well play"

"Oh! Right here?" Shin said getting his guitar and pointing at it.

Nana looked at him and stopped him "Wait! Maybe we'll get complaints" Hachi worried.

Nana and I looked at each other and laughed "We don't care" we said together.

"No I actually know a studio we can rent, for cheap! Maybe we can go" Shin smiled and gets his phone out.

Nana smiled "Great! Let's go there"

"Alright, let me just call them...." Shin walked away and started talking to the phone.

"He looks my age" I said. Looking at him and scanning him.

"Yeah he looks 16 to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he was in grade school" she grinned.

Hachi put her finger up "Ah-ha, so you did read the resume"

"I never said I didn't" Nana smoked.

"Alrighty, let's play and get this over with" I sighed as we were setting up.

Shin looked at me and my guitar "You look so cute but yet your so punk rock and cool" Shin smiled.

"Thank you" I smiled with a wink "A lot were that came from"

"Oh come on Kusaki, you know where you got that from" Nobu laughed. While Shin looked at us confused.

"Shin? You know how to go along?" Nana asked as she we setting up the mike.

Shin smiled "Of course!" He looked at the paper with the music and stood up.

"A 1, A 2, A 1234"

Nobu started playing and I went along with the song. Nana started singing a little and I saw Nobu just listen.

Hachi was staring at us like a big fan of our and right there Nobu played.

When he played, Ren popped in my head. The way he played so cooly and calm.

The kid didn't need any music sheets, just listened and went along, just like Ren would do.

Nana stopped and freaked out while he was playing alone. We all did.

"Ow!" Nana shouted. Hachi quickly went to Nana "Are you okay?"

"I'm sorry, did I do something wrong? Did I mess up?" He worried.

I smiled at him and hugged him "You did perfect Shin-kun!" I shouted.

"More than perfect" Nobu smiled

"Shin-kun?" Shin looked at me. I looked at him back. Is he Japanese? Maybe that why he has a baby face.

"Shin? Can I ask you a question?" Nana looked at her fingers.

We all turned to her "Yeah sure" Shin said with excitement.

Nana looked down "Who's your favorite bassist?" She asked.

"Ren Honjo!" He shouted. Nana smiled and we all did too. Havhi waved her hand "Your a fan too?!" She smiled.

"Yeah! At first I wanted to play guitar but since I heard him, I've wanted to play bassist"

As Hachi and him were fan-girling, I looked at Nana who was probably remembering something from Ren.

Nana turned to Ren and pulled her hand out "Alright, wanna be in our band?" She asked.

"Yes!" He brought out his hand and was about to shake it but then Nana pulled back.

"Wait, before you say yes. I wanna ask you a question and if you don't say yes to this question you better split" Nana said.

Shin looked confused but kept the smile "Sure, why not" he shrugged.

It stayed silent for a little "Then promise me you'll be better than Ren" she pulled her hand out.

Shin smiled "I promise"
