A/n: I forgot to post this lmaooo, my bad. Is it too late for a Christmas ff?
Dressed in a red sweater and sparkly skirt, you were about to head to your aunt's house for Christmas dinner. But just as you were reaching for your coat, you saw Danny's name on your phone screen. A frown formed between your eyebrows as you answered.
"Hello?'"
"Are you with Cole?"
He sounded worried through the phone. You could feel the prayer for a positive answer in his voice, which made your frown deepen.
"No, I haven't seen him all day? Why?"
"He didn't come home, he said he would, he promised Mom and he's not answering my texts or picking up my calls."
"He would hand in an extra assignment for Mr. C's class, maybe he got held back at school because of the snow?"
Danny denied that supposition. "I don't think so. Hayley asked Tara if she's seen him today and she hasn't."
"Well, maybe he went to Dylan's?''
"I already called him. We don't know where he is. He hasn't talked to anyone in the last few weeks. You're the only one he talks to. That's why I thought he might have been with you."
A heavy pause hung in the air as you recalled your and Cole's last conversations, trying to find a clue of where he was. He talked about wanting to get his grades up and all the presents he got for his family for Christmas. Football.
"I think I might know where he is," you said.
It was a wild guess, but it was Cole's comfort place.
"Where?" Danny's urgency echoed through the phone.
You shook your head although he couldn't see. "I'm sorry Danny, but I think it's best if I go by myself. I'll call you when I get there."

Armed with your double espresso, you braved through the snowy roads and drove to the Silver Falls football field, Taylor Field. It was a wild guess, but you were confident enough that he was there. It was the place he went to every time he wanted to be alone.
Your family was disappointed that you had to cancel dinner at the last minute, but if Cole was at the Taylor Field, you couldn't leave him alone. No one should spend Christmas alone. Especially not him, after all he's been through.
Propped and clipped to your car's air vents, your phone screen showed several texts from Danny, all trying to get more information about Cole. You ignored them all and focussed on the road and taking the right directions.
After an hour, you finally arrived. It was pitch black outside, after all, it was almost 10 pm. You pulled into the familiar driveway and parked your car, you mustered up the courage to get out of your safe, warm car to search for your boyfriend who might not even be somewhere in the freezing dark distance. It was a short walk to get from the parking lot to the football field, but in this darkness, it felt like one of the longest walks you've been on, and the cold wasn't helping either.
A light layer of snow coated the grounds, allowing the grass to peek through. The air was crisp, and you could see your breath as you walked up to the field. The floodlights were on, you were now sure he would be here. You walked, now excitedly, with a quick pace onto the football field.
...
huh, no one is here? But why were the floodlights on? Where else could he be? You started to worry about your boyfriend's well-being. You felt a panic attack coming.
"Y/n?" you immediately recognized that voice "What are you doing here" it was Cole. You turned around to see him standing on top of the stairs leading to the commentary room, the tension in your shoulders dropped, he was holding the door leading into the room, open with one of his legs. "Come here," he smiled holding his arm wide open. You quickly made your way over to him, almost slipping over the slippery field.
"How did you even get in here?"
"Coach hides the spare key under the doormat"
It was dark and cold as the power was not turned on. The air was a bit stale too from being inhabited.
"What are you doing here?" Cole asked, noticing your skirt and sheer tights. He knew it was Christmas Eve. You should be with your family, not here.
"Danny called me, he was worried," you explained briefly.
"How did you know I was here? I didn't tell anyone..."
No one knew Cole like you did. You were there through the good and the bad, and there was a lot of this bad this past year. You were the one who had brushed his tears at his hospital visits, and who helped him stay consistent and motivated for his daily recovery exercises. You knew all of his favorite songs and picked up every time he called regardless of the time. You always knew just how to make him laugh.
You sat on the edge of the cold chair, giving him a soft look. "No one knows you like I do."
The smallest smile curled on his lips. "I'm glad you're here," he admitted, a veil of tears in his eyes. "I thought I wanted to be alone, but it makes me just feel a lot worse."
Your heart broke and you pulled him in your arms. You two stayed there for a while. Until you finally convinced Cole to go home and spend Christmas with his family like he promised his Mother, he agreed to go home, but only on one condition, you had to go with him.

It was a quick ride to the Walter ranch, Cole parked the car in the driveway, walked over to the passenger side, and opened the door for you, he extended his hand for you to hold, he held your hand tightly, interlocking your fingers with his, before he put them into the pocket of his jacket. You walked up the porch, and just as you were about to walk up to the front door, he let go of your hand and started fumbling in his pockets, he seemed to have found whatever he was looking for, now hiding it from you, behind his back.
"What's in your hand," you said laughing at his cuteness.
Cole grabbed you by the waist and pulled you closer with his one arm, the other arm still behind his back, hiding whatever it was that he was holding. You started blushing, "What are you doing" You giggled, he revealed the mystery item behind his back, it was a mistletoe, he held it above both of your heads.
"Mistletoe. you know what that means my love," he replied with a grin on his face
You blushed, wrapping your arms around his neck, "You're hilarious,"
"Hilarious? I prefer romantic." He smiled, then leaned down and smashed his lips onto yours.
He interrupted the makeout session by pulling away, a small smirk pulled on his lips, he held your hand, leading you inside of the fully decorated house. "Can't wait for this to be over so it's just the two of us" he whispered. The both of you now standing in the living room where his entire family is unwrapping presents.
