Chapter 5: The Science Fair

A day before the science fair

"Louis.. are you sure you can't go with me?" William asked Louis from the dining table as Louis brought in the food.

"A-As much as I would love to go with you brother, I have to make up for my missing math lectures because I've taken some of my university days off to manage the café" Louis stammered.

William raised an eyebrow skeptical as he nodded. You major in culinary art but okay..

William turned to look at Albert as he opened his mouth. "I can't go too, William. I'm sorry" William frowned as he nodded.

"Is the science fair that boring" William asked rhetorically. Of course he understood that they both can't go but he also knew that they are lying however he didn't know why.

"Elementary, my dear William" Albert joked as William looked at Albert and frowned, feeling a pang in his heart.

Of course even a line from the book based on his detective hurt him. Louis seemed to notice this as he quietly unlocked his phone, switch on the silencing, open the camera app, secretly took a photo and put the phone down before changing the subject.

Well at least that's what Louis thought. He thought William didn't notice but again he did notice but decided to not dwell on it too much as there could be many reasons to why Louis decided to randomly take a photo of him.

"So I learned a new recipe from culinary class and I think you both would really like it"

As Albert and William looked distracted, Louis unlocked his phone and opened his messaging app and clicked on the contact in which he saved the name as 'Detective S.H' and sent a picture of William frowning followed by a text:

'Target found suspicious when mentioned the iconic line from Sir Author Conan Doyle novel, and I quote, elementary my dear William'

The day of the science fair

"Professor!" Aliya, one of his students yelled out from a distance as she and the other students ran towards William at the entrance of the science fair.

"Why are you guys matching?" William asked in confusion upon seeing his students showed up in the same shirts and pants, some wore skirts. William however was wearing cream colored cardigan and a pair of black pants as he put on a long brown overcoat on top of his clothes.

"So that it will be easier to spot us!" Michael replied. "Alright, is that everyone?" William glanced around quickly, counting the number of students, there were 10 students who made it to the science fair.

"The others couldn't make it, so that's all" William hummed. "Professor! You don't know how hard it is to get my parents to agreed. I had I say that you will be there to supervise so that they would let me go!" Tate whined.

William chuckled as he glanced at his watch. "Alright.. feel free to explore but make sure to do it in pairs or group. If you are lost, you can make a phone call to me or to one of your friends or come to the entrance and we will reunite here."

The students nodded as they picked out who they wanted to explore the fair with. "What about you professor?" William thought as he smiled at them. "I will be exploring solo, I never got to do that often" The two nodded in understanding.

"Oh alright! We were going to ask if we can come with you but you can enjoy your alone time" William smiled as they all rushed inside, leaving William alone.

Alright, where should I headed to first... William entered as he went to the stall that hand out maps, it surprisingly is the biggest fair of the year.

William took the map as he started to scan over it. Alright let see.. I can go to this see this project about this robot first then I can—

William snapped out of his trance upon hearing a topic he can't help but notice. "Ahh!! Have you heard about the special guest that will be coming here?!" "Excuse me, miss?" William intervened the girls as he smiled.

"I can't help but hear about a special guest, please can you tell me what you know about it?" One of the girl looked at William before beaming brightly.

"We don't know who it is yet because it is a surprise guest. But we heard rumors!" The girl squeal excitedly. "Please do tell if I'm not disturbing"

"Not at all! So we heard that a super famous but confidential person is joining us" "Confidential?" The girl nodded as she continued.

"Mhm! Apparently not many people know what he looks like so I put the pieces together and did a little digging and bribed some of his clients and I think the special guest is.." She urged William to come closer as she cupped her hands over William's ear.

"The famous private consulting detective, Sherlock Holmes" She whispered as William's eyes widened. Sherlock.. is it really him? The girl stepped back as she proudly look at William.

"Also, if you want to be in front rows before too many people come, I suggest you coming with us right now" She suggested as he nodded.

"By the way, what is your name mister?" The two girls now walking together to the main stage with William joining them. "Oh by the way, I'm Helena Collin but you can call me Helena" Helena. William smiled at the family name. "And I'm Frida" "My name is Moriarty"

The three of them converse in a conversation until they got to the stage. As he got there, he spotted his students waiting there too. "Professor!" They called out and ran to William. "Why are you guys not exploring?" "Well.. the experiments began after the special guest introductions, and we also really want to know who the special guest is!"

William nodded as he noticed one of his student, Lucian, and one the girl, Frida staring at each before his eyes widened, remembering a past case he had dealt with. He smiled as he decided to bring them together again in this life.

"Lucian, why don't you say hi to one her?" William said as he gestured towards Frida, making him blushed. "P-Professor!" William winked at Lucian as he giggled.

Helena was not kidding when she said the crowd will form soon because just 3 minutes later, a huge crowd gathered in front of the stage, waiting for a certain guest.

William was rather nervous, he was nervous because he really expected the so called 'Sherlock Holmes' to be his 'Sherly'.

Wait, I need to think more logically. Sherly won't be able to remember anything so even if it is him, he wouldn't even notice me but at least I will be getting my closure.

"Excuse me" William turned on his camera as he took out a strawberry scented chapstick that has a slight pink tint to it and apply it on his lips. As he was done, he stuff the chapstick back into his pockets as he turned to look at his students who was starting at him.

"What? Never seen a math professor put on chapstick before in your life?" He asked as his student looked embarrassed. "Wait you're a math professor?!" Helena asked as William nodded. Then the lights in the science fair were cut off except the light coming from the stage.
