"I'm working here, you waste of fur." ~ Diego

20 010 Years Ago

The Ice Age

....

Emerald eyes glared through the darkness of the night, his velvety orange and white fur hidden in plain site.

Slowly, the saber arose from his spot on the bare ground and onto all fours, his eyes trained on something snuggled in the mammoth's trunk.

With an arch back, and his claws drawn, the saber began to stalk toward the sleeping mammoth.

The quiet howling of the wind, and the occasional exaggerated snore from Sid were the only sounds that echoed around that small space, creating a scheming atmosphere.

Quietly, Diego approached Manny's trunk, his green eyes beginning to increase their neon glow. His swiftly shifted his eyes over to Manny, checking to see if he's still unconscious before shifting them back to the snoozing child and raising his left paw.

His pearly white claws reflected in the moonlight, showing just how sharp they are.

Carefully, the tiger brought them down, preparing to swipe the child and carry it back to his herd, when-

ZZZZ!

Diego's head snapped to the right, his paw quickly falling to his side as he frantically scanned the darkness for whoever made that noise. Finally, his eyes found the outline of the snoring sloth perched on a rock.

With a scoff, the saber turned his attention back to the baby and lowered his claws for the second time but was once again interrupted when the Manny began to shift in his sleep, bringing the baby closer to his side.

The saber started to become frustrated when he realized this task seemed harder then anticipated, however, before he could try again, his nose caught waft of another scent, one's whom he recognized quite well.

His head spun to the right, his snout shifting into a snarl as he glanced at the group once more, before stalking in the direction of the new scent.

....

Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch

Slowly reigning consciousness, a pair of tired (E/C) eyes emerged from behind their eye lids, only to close again, desperate for a good night's sleep.

Crunch, crunch, crunch

There it was again.

Steadily, (Y/N) peaked one eye open, her (E/C) irises quickly finding the saber's figure in the dark. The girl swiftly began to rub her eyes as she watch the saber walk further away from the group, seemingly heading towards the ledge on the opposite side of the landing.

....

Diego's eyes quickly caught on to a singular tumble weed bush, its rustling movement causing great suspicion within the saber.

The saber's eyes narrowed into a squint and his back positioned into an arch, and with a powerful roar, he leapt into the bush and onto whoever was hidden behind it. Together, they tumbled down the hill before landing on to the ground with a thud, the other animal pinned under Diego.

....

(Y/N) quickly sat up, her eyes widening as she watched Diego leap and disappear over the ledge.

"What-" The human suspiciously arose from the ground, her eyes still glued to the spot Diego was last seen. She sluggishly walked towards the ledge, her head tilted up as she squinted to get a better view.
