Chapter 5

Jennifer.

"Jen?Jen?!What the fuck is wrong with you ever since last night you've been acting all strange".Deverick said putting on his shirt.

"Dev im sorry just a lot on my mind right now".He eyed me down then started lacing up his shoes."Mm.Well I can probably help that."he said biting his lip."Dev no its not time for sex".he smacked his lips "Mane whatever".I shook my head and started doing my makeup.

"Where are you going?".he asked before walking out."Somewhere".I put on my heels and combed my hair with my fingers."Don't play where you going".I was about to walk out the room when he stopped me."Leme ask you again, where are you going?". I sighed."Deverick I'm grown you don't control me okay I can leave whenever I please to".

I know he might get mad at me for saying this but I'm getting tired of him....

"Is that right.. See you must really like making me mad don't you?!".I rolled my eyes."Deverick can you let me go so I can check on Jacala",he tighten his grip on my arm."Not until you tell me where the fuck you going!".I sighed."Okay Deverick whatever you want!I'm taking Jacala so we can have a mom and daughter day okay?".he let go of his grip."Yeah and you better not be lying to me ".

"Deverick I'm not!".I said while walking out our room going into Jacalas room

I actually was lying to him.....

"Jacala baby come on, get your bag so we can go".She grabbed her bag and her little barbie doll. I had waited around until I heard Deverick leave first,  before we left.

Okay so ever since my dream last night I decided that, I should just meet Dayci somewhere instead of her coming to the house. She said she wanted me to visit mom, and we talked about it being good idea for me to let Jacala stay with my mom for a while.....

~ Arriving to Jennifer's Moms House~

"Come on,  Jacala".she grabbed her bag and held my hand as we walked up to my moms house.I knocked on the door and heard the door unlock.

"Jennifer!"

"Oh my god!Rayon is that you?!"

"Uh!Yeah girl damn!You can't even recognize yo own sister".I laughed.

"No!You look different"

"Who's at the do-Jennifer!!"

"Dayci!!!"

"Girl you look wonderful"

"As well as yourself Dayci"

"Well yah know......".she trailed off.

"Girl come in". Dayci and Rayon said in sync. I walked in with Jacala holding my hand tightly.

"Is this--No, it can't be...Jacala!?".Dayci said jokingly. I moved out the way because Jacala was hiding behind me."Hi precious".
"H-Hi?".Jacala said shyly. "Oh no baby you don't have to be shy, Auntie Dayci don't bite!".Dayci said hugging Jacala and tickling her while making her giggle.
"I'm not shy!".Jacala said with a huge smile on her face. "That's right! That's exactly what I like to hear!"Dayci said while giving Jacala a highfive.

"Jennifer?". I looked up and saw my mother walking down the steps.

"Mom." I said dryly.

"Jen!?". Dayci whispered to me while nodging me with her elbow.

"What?". I said with irritation and Dayci gave me that look and I just rolled my eyes.

"okay I'll stop.."

"Hello Mother". I said with the most fakest smile.

"Dayci—Rayon can you both please excuse me and Jenifer for a moment". Rayon and Dayci nodded and gave us the room.

"They didn't have to leave..".I said to my mom while watching Jacala play with her Barbie."She's Gorgeous, Look at my granddaughter. She looks just like you did when you were about her age.". Shannon (Mom) said to me but I ignored her, I mean heard what she said but I just couldn't get myself to talk to her, I was just quiet. Then she broke the silence. "Look Jen, I know you don't understand this but I didn't wanna see you like that. That man puts his hands on you I couldn't bare to see my daughter treated like that. Okay, I love you and will always I'm just so glad you finally left him and came home". I frowned up my face.

"Mama, What are you talking about? Me and Deverick are still together, I haven't left him". She frowned."Dayci told me you and Dev-". Before she could finished talking, Dayci came running into the room. "Jennifer?! My lovely sister... Remember you told me you left him". Dayci said while eyeing me, I could tell by the way she emphasized on "Remember" that she clearly lied to our mother about my situation.

Why would Dayci tell our mom that I left him.....

"What?" I said with confusion.

"Jennifer so you're still with Deverick?".My mother said with this look on her face. I cut my eyes at Dayci because I was so confused on why she lied. "Mama, Yes technically but I'm—".She interrupted me with an exaggerated sigh and starred at me with disappointment and disbelief.

"Jennifer....You are my daughter and I love you but I have been down this road way too many times with you. This man has brain washed you, beat you down like a dog, and so much more. That man blatantly disrespected the entire family almost killed you and you continue to be with him."

"Mom–".

"Let me finish.."

We have helped you so much but each time you continue to go back. That man is dead to me and it breaks my heart that this man has this hold on you like he does. Baby, I'm tired So you gone have to leave my house. I ain't having my daughter get beat and not letting no one help her get out of it".I could tell she was heartbroken, but she was basically telling me that me and daughter are not welcomed and that hurt me because she doesn't even know the half of it.

Is she serious....

"Mama look it ain't easy okay! I'm trying...But you know what fine. I am leaving, I knew I should've  never came anyways... See, Dayci I told you this was a bad idea!" I said while quickly wiping a tear. "Come on Jacala let's go baby!".I grabbed her arm to walk out.

"Jen!No wait don't go please Jennifer".Dayci said while trying to block the front door.
"No Dayci, Why would you tell her that?".she sighed "Jennifer please, just leave Cala here with mom and let's go out somewhere so we can relax and talk just us." I looked down at Jacala "I don't know....".I trailed off."Please...".I nodded and a big smile spread across her face."Okay good."

"Mom!"

"Dayci?!What"

"I need to talk to Jenifer, can you watch Jacala for a bit?". There was a long pause of silence.

"See Dayci I told you! No. let's go Jacala". I started walking out with Jacala.

"Jenifer Kate! You know I love that child to death. That is my grand baby of course she can stay with me." I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at my mom. I fixed my body language and looked at Jacala.

"Baby girl, Your gonna stay here with grandma for a bit okay...".I said to Jacala with a smile. She shook her head no."No? What do you mean no, I will be back it's just for a little bit". I told her. She whispered "Mommy, I don't want to leave you! I want to go with you!". She hugged me tightly and I could feel her sobbing on my shoulder."Baby stop crying, You don't worry about mommy, only mommy worries about you... Alright, Ima be okay I promise".She looked at me and asked.
"You promise?". I kissed her little forehead. "Yes baby mommy promise, Now be a big girl okay". She nodded yes and Rayon came in the doorway talking to Jacala. "Don't worry sweetheart, Your cousin Kayla is here you can play with her".Rayon said "Kayla!".She called her down and to play with Jacala.

"Yes?"

"Baby girl come and play with your cousin Jacala".

"Okayyyy!".I smiled and ran down the steps to Jacala.

"Well alright mom, we should get going! Thank you.". Dayci said to our mom before we left.
