We all got to the hallway and stared at two girls arguing, I recognized Darlie but not the other one.
The other girl for sure wasn't Vicky, Vicky was with Ethan doing God knows what. Vicky was tall and had really light blonde hair with extensions. She also usually wore dark eyeshadow and dark clothing, emo. And her hair was usually big and curly. It honestly looked like a rats nest some days.
"I caught you with my boyfriend in the back, don't lie you bitch."
"I wasn't, why would I be with your boyfriend he looks like he doesn't even shower." Darlie snapped back at whoever the girl was.
I started to soon zone out up until someone swung and the crowd around them started to go wild.
Screaming, yelling, shouting, laughing, running, there were people tripping and everything.
I stared in horror as I was getting pushed and thrown around. This was all way too much.
"Eli, we gotta go. The prinpical is coming." Dillian looked at me and grabbed my wrist, immediately running through the crowd somehow without tripping.
We ran upstairs, knowing we might get caught by the gym coach. He was usually up there. We stood in the stairwell out of breath until I realized Andrew wasn't with us.
"Dill, where's Andrew?" I asked, looking at him while my hands were on my knees. I was still shaken up from being in that crowd.
Dillian slowly looked at me for a second before realizing himself, too.
"I forgot he was there. We have to go back like, now."
"Are you crazy? we barely escaped that crowd." I said, my legs trembling as I moved my hands off my knees.
"Yeah, but Andrew can't get detention again. Otherwise, he's gonna get suspended for a bit. He's already had 5 detentions last week."
"Then you go, Dill. You're bigger than me. You'll survive."
Dillian nodded and made his way back down, going to grab Andrew.
I stayed back and sat down in a chair that someone had left, still taking deep breaths.
I heard someone breathe heavily, I slowly turned, and my eyes met with the gym coach.
Why me?
"Boy, why are you up here? You're a junior." He said, fixing his cap.
"Sir, I was told to come up here." I quickly came up with a lie and tried to make it seem as if I wasn't nervous.
"Oh really? By who?"
"Uh.. Mrs. Choi. She wanted me to, uhm.. grab some papers for her."
The gym coach, Mr. Jones grabbed his radio and turned it on, speaking into it.
"Mrs. Choi, did you send Elijah Harrison up here to grab some papers for you? Over."
"Mr. Jones, I don't have time for this. Please come downstairs. There's a large group of students, Darlie Skye and Jessica Hanson, are fighting, and I'm losing control. Over."
I looked at Mr. Jones, and he put his radio down.
"You better not be lying, or that's detention for you. Students should not be in other grade level areas unless permission is given."
"Yes, sir." I responded before he went downstairs to go handle what was going on. I almost got caught.
Dillan ran back upstairs, holding Andrew like a child. To be fair, Andrew is pretty skinny and could get crushed easily.
"Dill, I almost got in trouble by Mr. Jones."
"That's why you should've come with me."
"You're literally holding Andrew on your shoulders as if he's a sleeping baby."
"...Fair." Dillian placed Andrew down, and Andrew fixed his curly blonde hair.
"You ruined it Dill, they were just getting into it." Andrew looked at Dillian and furrowed his eyebrows
"Mrs. Choi was literally in between them. They were hitting her at that point."
Andrew rolled his eyes and heard footsteps.
"Run." Andrew said, immediately getting a head start and us following after him.
We sprinted down the senior hallway, Andrew was shorter than all of us, so he was immediately faster.
Dillan was losing breath quickly, and I was also about to lose all of my breath like I hadn't already.
I looked at some girls while we ran, and Dillan, like the dumbass he is, tripped on his own shoe and smacked against someone's locker.
I could hear Andrew laughing while he was ahead of us, and I continued running, knowing Dillan could pick himself back up.
We all ran down back the other stairwell, and the bell was getting closer to ringing.
"Yo, I can't get detention. What do we do?" Andrew said, looking back at me.
"Run back to class before 7:40."
Dillan looked at his watch and then at the both of us, "We only have three minutes it's 7:37."
I picked up my speed and ran into class since my class was in the front of the hallway, I ran to my seat and sat down out of breath.
The teacher glanced at me and then at the door, "Excuse me but, hon... I don't think this is your class unless you're a new student."
I immediately looked at the teacher and realized I ran into the wrong classroom, I immediately stood up and walked out, embarrassed. While I could hear some girls whispering and other guys chuckling.
I realized that Mr. Jones was probably gonna catch up to us, and since I wasted a minute, I need to go now.
I ran down across the hallway while the guys made a right turn, waving and yelling, "See you at gym."
I ran into my classroom right before the bell rang and sat down at a desk that wasn't even mine, exhausted.
"Right on time, Mr. Harrison. Guess I won't be needing to notify the office about this period." Ms. Mars said, getting started with class.
Thank god that I'm lucky.
