I stayed in that exact spot until the school doors finally opened up, I knew those four had already gone inside cause I heard them stop talking. I didn't want to move.
I couldn't, I did something wrong, but I needed to know what.
Did I do something wrong?
I saw a bunch of people moving quickly or stalling, too many people for it to only be like, 7:15.
My body started moving on its own, and before I knew it, I was walking toward the forest far behind the school, past all the fields.
I still had my backpack, and Nicholas had never turned up like he was supposed to. I had nothing to wait on.
I kept going as my view of the school slowly started disappearing as I kept going deeper.
I stepped on twigs and leafs that had fallen down a long time ago, I loved the crunch sound they made.
I saw a few birds and a bunch of stuff the school threw out. What a wast-

TW: Mentions of death and description of gore
...
I found where the rotten smell came from. A head. That belongs to Dillan.
It was only his head. It wasn't attached to his neck.
I moved closer and eventually saw the rest of him. His torso, his arms, his legs, his feet, his hands.
I just stared until I fully processed what happened to him. He's dead.
Dillan is dead. He's no longer alove.
I screamed in absolute horror until I started crying.
My best friend is dead. He will never be able to talk to anyone anymore. I JUST TALKED TO HIM YESTERDAY.
He will never graduate high school, he'll never get to get married, and he'll never do anything with me or anyone else again.
He was only seventeen for fuck sakes.
I wanted to move closer to him, but what was the point he was dead. He wasn't gonna feel it.
My body wanted to give up, but I didn't want to. I had to let someone know.
I sprinted out of the forest and ran back towards the school. Tears dripped down my cheeks while snot ran down my nose.
I pushed the door open and ran toward Mrs. Choi's officer, I heard the front office yell at me to come back, but I just ignored her. I could barely breathe.
I ran into her office and started yelling. She tried to calm me down, but again, I kept yelling.
She called 911 when she heard what I was trying to say, and I broke down crying again at the thought of what exactly happened in Dillan's eyes.
Why is this happening to me? How am I supposed to tell Andrew or even Ethan? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TELL DARLIE?
My face was red, and at that point, my eyes were too.
I could not stop thinking about what I saw. Can you honestly blame me for being like this?
The police came, and I swear I saw at least over 10 run toward the forest.
I eventually sat down and took deep breaths.
I now knew how that girls family felt, the one who died back in February.
Me and Dillan were gonna do something on Friday. Now we can't. Ever.
They called my dad since I was clearly upset and terrified, and I continued sitting there, taking deep breaths in an attempt to not break down even more.
I waited a while, and I could see white bags with blood on them, which I could only assume it was...
Oh god.
...
I saw his parents run over to the police officers, as distressed as I am.
I could see his mother sobbing. Meanwhile, his step dad tried comforting his mom. I also think I saw Noelle walking out of the front doors to see their parents and also... him.
This was a complete mess, and I couldn't wait to leave. I couldn't wait to go back home and just cry as much as I wanted to without being stopped.
I leaned my head onto the arms of the chairs, still waiting for my dad. Eventually, I fell asleep since I was exhausted and really needed the nap.
