~THEN~
"A normal life? College? Honestly, Riley?" Dean looked at her in horror, why did she want this normal life so badly instead of continuing to hunt? "You want me to spend my life hunting? How am I supposed to make a living? Keep playing pool and poker?" "Yes! It's easy and fun." Riley sighed. She realized that Dean wouldn't understand. He'd known nothing but hunting his whole life, just like her. But Bobby had given her a normal life, even though he was a hunter himself. He only took her along when she really wanted it. And now she wanted a normal life, in a normal college, with normal friends and normal problems. "I'm 17, Dean. That's when you normally go to college." "Normally..." he repeated, almost mockingly. "But our lives aren't normal." "Why are you so upset? It's my life." Dean gave her a disappointed look. "Yes, your life. You know, after a long time, I finally have someone I can count as a friend again. And now you're leaving." She smiled slightly. "I'm not out of the world. I'm only an hour away from here. You can visit me anytime." "It's not the same." Sighing, she took his hand, which had become normal for both of them by now. "Our friendship remains, Dean. Hunting or no hunting."

~NOW~
The weeks after Ohio were both wonderful and terrible for Riley. She and Dean had sex, lots of sex, but that was it. A kiss here and there at the motel, but otherwise it was business as usual. He flirted with other women in bars, occasionally picked one up and used the single room for his pleasure. But Riley couldn't be mad at him. They weren't together, they just had sex. That's all it was, sex. Now she lay awake for hours, next to Dean, who slept soundly. She often wondered how much longer this would go on, but if she was honest with herself, she enjoyed every bit of attention Dean gave her. Even though she knew how weak it made her look. But if she told him that, it would end, they would lose what they had again and maybe it would cost them their friendship, too. And she couldn't and wouldn't let that happen.
Eventually, she fell asleep, but only a few hours later, Sam's panicked voice woke her up. "Dean. Riley." He turned on the light and gave them both a quick shoulder shake. Dean groaned tiredly, Riley yawned and looked at Sam who was already on his feet. "What are you doing? It's the middle of the night," Dean asked, rubbing his eyes. He propped himself up on his elbows and looked at Sam. Riley yawned again before sitting up. Sam was packing his things, which only confused them more. "We have to go," Sam said firmly. Dean looked at Sam alertly. "Sam, what exactly is going on?" Riley asked now, crawling out of bed and walking over to him, putting a hand on his arm reassuringly. "We have to go. Right now." He picked up his bag and jacket, opened the door and walked out. "Come on." Riley looked worriedly at Dean, who looked worried as well. "I guess we're going then," she muttered, grabbing her bag and quickly throwing all her things in it, Dean following. "Do you think he's okay?" Dean asked. Riley shrugged. "I guess we're about to find out."
