Chapter Four: Car Chase Feat. Minotaur
(I Accidentally Vaporise My Pre-Algebra Teacher, Pt. 4)

The storm raged around them, even more violently than it did before, almost like it was battling with storm churning inside Hester.
Hester was starting to think the storm inside would win out as Sally drove to whatever sanctuary her aunt had begun to tell Hester about, that it would be safe for demigods like her and Percy. She took solace in that Percy looked as confused as she felt as he stared at Grover from the shotgun seat as Hester did the same as she sat beside him, her aunt next to her in the back as Grover started explaining.
At first, Hester thought it would clear up her confusion. But it just brought more questions for her.
"My job has been to guide you two to this moment. It's always an emotional rollercoaster for a young demigod, especially if there's two or more realising who they are at once, so providing a support system is really—" Grover explained and making Hester stare at him more and more in confusion until Percy interrupted, "Who are you?"
"I'm Grover. I'm your best friend, and Hester's, and—" Grover started answering, only for Percy to cut in with, "What are you?"
"That's what I've been wanting to know for hours," Hester commented, eyeing the shaggy fur of Grover's goat legs, resisting the urge to wrinkle her nose—turns out, wet goat fur smelled terrible.
Instead of answering, Grover took his beanie off, revealing two small horns poking out. Hester's eyes widened, as some part of her brain finally connected the dots and the name for the mythological creature Grover apparently was sprung to her mind, as he said, "I'm a—"
"Satyr," Hester whispered, looking at Grover. "That's what you are, right? Half-man, half-goat?"
Grover looked at her, stunned, as he said, "Yeah, I am. Did Sakura tell you?"
"No. But I've read a lot of Greek mythology," Hester replied, staring at the horns, then the hooves, and finally at Grover.
Grover gave her another stunned look, like he hadn't been expecting her to connect the dots—or maybe remembering that if Hester Sāto wasn't knitting or writing, then she was devouring Greek mythology books like they were food—before he continued on, "And I'm your Protector."
"You're my Protector?" Percy asked, skeptical.
"Well, yours and Hester's," Grover amended.
"Wait. That's what you meant when you said my Protector was coming? You meant Grover?" Hester asked her aunt, who nodded. She looked back at Grover, now the one stunned as she questioned him, "Also, how are you our Protector?"
