Today's chapter is brought to you by "Overweight" by Blue October. (it's a great song, feel free to listen to it, link above) (lyrics will be bolded and italicized )

——————————

Ever carried the weight of another?

For how long?

As he patrolled the hallways of the ship, memories came back to him. His first days as a sparkling. His first days, as a member of the Decepticon empire.

One of the first things they were told was that any "sensitive" emotion was weakness. And weakness meant not fit for battle. Being not fit for battle, was, well, not acceptable. Decepticons didn't have medics, or pacifists, nor conscientious objectors. You had to serve. There were only two options. Weapons scientist, or soldier. He chose the life of the soldier, because he held honor. Loyalty. And was very promising for combat, as told by the commanding officer at the training camp. He wanted to make the Decepticon leader proud.

If only they knew... How wrong it was to mask emotion. Other than anger.

Maybe that's why his comrades were a bit nuts.

Many times he wanted to break down the past few days, cry himself till there was no more left to weep. He didn't quite understand why, as with the death of Optimus Prime, the Decepticons had slowed, taking their time to get to Cybertron now.

'I guess it's been a good time to reflect.'

Even with the death of the Prime you knew, you kept positive. Cheering up Starscream when he needed it, looking on the bright side. Keeping yourself occupied with what you had.

Like you had said, you were in this for the long haul, no matter what.

Though, he knew that you had to be feeling down somewhat. Away from everything you've ever known.

He didn't know how you were able to do it, to cuddle him like nothing was wrong. Telling him to "keep his chin up."

"She's stayed strong for me."

Truthfully, he was getting worried for you. You've adjusted yourself well enough, but that didn't change how you were still stuck on this ship.

He hesitates calling you a prisoner for obvious reasons, but also, well, the other Decepticons weren't really treating it as such anymore. It was more or less like babysitting when Wheeljack or any other Decepticon checked up on their "guest." Probably because of OP's death, everything on the Decepticon ship had grinded to a halt. It seemed that things didn't matter to Megatron anymore.

But as for you, you kept eating, drinking, sleeping. You listened to music most of the time, playing it audibly when Starscream was with you so he could enjoy it as well. You danced, smiled, kept an audio/visual journal on this journey thanks to the recorder he had given you.

He had seen those times when sadness was close to you however. And every time, you tried to keep it in check.

Starscream stopped walking, and gazed out the window and into space. For a minute he was quiet, thinking.

'How much supplies does she have left anyways?'

Abruptly he turned his head away, and began walking briskly to his quarters.

When he got there, he saw the familiar scene.

Wheeljack was watching guard of Starscream's quarters.

His doors were open, but there was an slightly colored see-through shield wall that held in the breathable air space for you Star has designed. Wheeljack was silent, hearing Starscream's metallic footsteps stomp down the hall.
