Samantha's POV:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got out of the car and walked over to the school. Emily joined me at first, but soon her focus was on Caleb. I sighed before hurrying to my locker.
I had completely spaced out, my eyes staring at a point at the end of the hallway when I bumped into someone.
"Sorry." I muttered, my mind abruptly shifting back to reality. "Wait, Sam?" The guy confirmed. "Yeah?" I finally looked up at the guy and my face turned pink. "Rowan!" I squeaked out. I mentally face palmed. What the hell Sam? What was that?! My face turned even pinker. "My bad. I wasn't really..." I paused, suddenly unaware of how to finish the sentence. "I don't know." Really Sam?! That's all you got?
Rowan smiled. "All good. I'll see you in math." He walked off. He didn't look back once.
Sam you really gotta pull yourself together. I hurried to my first period, Science.
...
Fuck.
I slammed my head against my table after realizing that I had made a grave mistake.
Goddamnit, ouch. Why did I do that!?
In my weird, flustered state of mind I had forgotten to grab my stuff from my locker, leaving me with just a pencil and my phone. A few people turned to stare at me as I cursed out loud and rubbed my forehead.
I raised my hand and asked to go get my stuff. I could feel my science teacher sending me looks of disapproval as I hurried out of the class.
The hallways were almost completely deserted. There were only a few people walking around. Some were skipping class, some just on their way to the bathroom or something. I sighed as I spotted my locker. I stopped in front of it and quickly put in my combination.
I grabbed my stuff with a sigh and slammed my locker door shut. I closed my eyes and leaned against the lockers to ground myself.
'Insert annoying ringtone'
I jumped, hitting my head against the locker. Why can't my head get a break today? I rubbed my head to reduce the pain, muttering and wincing. I took my phone out of my pocket as I steadied my breathing.
It was an unknown number calling me. I stared at the numbers trying to see if I recognized it, but nothing stood out. After brief deliberation, I picked up.
"Hi?" I asked hesitantly. "Hey Sam! It's Rowan. Emily gave me your number." "Hey!" I replied, internally reminding myself to save his number later. "I know this sounds really weird, but I was just wondering if we could be friends? Sorry if I'm overstepping."
My mind went blank for a few seconds. "Yeah, of course! That sounds great." My voice cracking. He didn't seem to notice though, replying with a; "Cool. I'll see you later." And hanging up.
I put my phone back into my pocket and balanced all my stuff in my arms before hurrying back to class.
