But we were good friends and it didn't end right.

Samantha's POV:

"Hey." Rowan smiled as I got into his car. "You look nice." I blushed slightly. "You too." I replied awkwardly. We both looked down at our laps.

I watched the trees out the window as we drove by. It was calming. I looked over at Rowan. He noticed me looking and smiled over at me. "Are you taking me somewhere secluded so that you can kill me?" I joked. Rowan rolled his eyes playfully. "I would never." He laughed.

Finally, we arrived. It was a field in the middle of nowhere. I raised an eyebrow at Rowan. "Why are we here?" I finally said. "Just wait and see. Shouldn't be long now." He started walking up a hill toward the trees. I followed him up the hill and noticed quickly that the trees formed the outline of a makeshift heart. I smiled. "Who cuts these trees?"

"I do. I come here every few weeks." He answered truthfully. "That's neat." I muttered.

"Oh! It's starting." He turned his attention back to the trees and I mimicked him. I let out a quiet gasp seeing the sunset through the heart made by trees. I turned to Rowan grinning. He was already looking at me. He grabbed my hand hesitantly. I turned to face him and he cupped my face gently with his hands as he brought his lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close. It was perfect.

I was playing with Rowan's hand which was in my lap as he drove us back to my house. He kept looking over at me with his soft smile. I looked out the window and watched the streetlights as we sped by.

We pulled up at my house at around 10. I kissed him softly. He reciprocated it. I pulled back with a smile and got out of the car, hurrying up to my house. I waved at Rowan before closing and locking the door.

I ran up to my room where I saw Emily, who was scrolling through her Instagram feed. She looked up as I walked in. "Heyyyyyyyy!" Em called, "How did it go?" She asked excitedly. "It was great!" "Oh my god you guys kissed?!" She screamed. "No! What?! Shut up!" I yelled back, covering her mouth as she squealed. "Shhhhhhhh!" I hissed at her. "You did!!" She grinned, hopping up and down happily. I groaned. "Whatever. I'm gonna go get ready for bed."
