I finally got another chapter out! It only took like... over a year... ha...ha...ha...
Like I mentioned in the previous chapter, updates won't be consistent at all because college is time consuming and doing a double major with music is tiring, but I'll do my best to continue working on chapters! It's a struggle trying to get words on the page, but I enjoy writing this fanfic and look forward to eventually finishing this fic!
Anyways, please enjoy this long chapter to compensate for how long it took for me to get an update out lol

"Lady (Y/n)!" Though she could hear Dan Heng call her name, she was stricken by silence. Unable to muster up a single word to say, her mouth was hanging open in surprise at the boy standing in front of her with hands glowing yellow-green. That familiar blindfold covering his eyes surprised her further as she had thought he'd been taken away to the Shackling Prison by orders of Jing Yuan.
"Y-Yuhua...? H-how did you...?" A small smile appeared across the blind boy's lips, his hands lowering and the yellow-green glow disappearing from his fingertips. Yuhua looked around before unclipping something from his waistband and holding the item up to eye-level. Hanging from a golden chain was a glowing emerald gem protected by an oval shaped frame of the same colour as the chain it was attached to. The lady continued to stare at him with confusion, unsure of what reaction she was supposed to give from seeing this foreign object.
"I'm an outworlder from a different planet, remember?" he began saying. "Where I come from, some of us are fortunate enough to be blessed with powers from the gods. This," he gestured to the green gem. "Is the source of my powers."
"Gods...?" she questioned. "Are they like... Aeons?" Yuhua shook his head.
"Not... really," he said slowly. "It's a bit complicated to explain and I'm sort of in a rush at the moment. Perhaps if I ever return to the Xianzhou Luofu in the future I could—" Before Yuhua could finish his sentence, a familiar newly hired bodyguard of the young lady suddenly called out from the entrance of the alleyway they were in, spear in hand with a fiery look in his eyes.
"Get away from her!" Dan Heng shouted at Yuhua, thrusting his weapon forward towards the poor blindfolded boy. Though he couldn't see for obvious reasons, Yuhua easily sidestepped out of the way while simultaneously pushing the young lady away from himself, obeying the request of this strange man.
"Dan Heng!" (Y/n) quietly gasped in surprise. Said man heard her quiet voice and immediately leapt to her side, pushing her behind him as the tip of his lance was pointed at Yuhua's neck. In the midst of this scramble, Yuhua had let go of the precious gem he always kept on him; the source of his powers. The glowing emerald stone lay on the ground just a few feet away from its owner. Glancing towards it, Yuhua made a move to grab his gem but was promptly stopped by the tip of Dan Heng's lance pushing closer to his neck threatening to create a mark on his skin.
"Do not move," threatened Dan Heng. "Who are you and why did you attempt to kidnap Lady (Y/n)?" As Yuhua was about to answer and explain himself, the dark haired man felt a gentle hand rest atop his shoulder as the young lady took a step forward from behind him. Startled by this, his grip loosened and his lance lowered so that Yuhua's neck was no longer in danger.
"Let me clear this misunderstanding up," she said. "I have a feeling it's better for me to explain things."
Dan Heng's azure eyes darted from the blindfolded boy to (Y/n) and he let out a sigh, finally lowering his weapon but still keeping his guard up in case Yuhua were to try anything. With the lance no longer pointed at him, the outworlder cautiously bent down to retrieve his emerald gem and secured it around his waistband once more.
