The sun beating down upon them didn't seem to bother Dan Feng in the slightest. Although the sun's rays caused his dark hair to become hot to the touch, that was the least of his concerns. Walking beside him with her fingers interlocked with his own gloved ones, was (Y/n). His dearest and most beloved (Y/n). The wind softly tousled her (h/c) strands and her magnificent horns glimmered beneath the sunlight. She looked so ethereal. Like a goddess. A breathtaking woman. Oh... he could stare and admire her all day long if he so pleased.
Dan Feng felt his own lips move to say something. He didn't remember exactly what he said, but he said something that made her smile and laugh. Oh... her precious smile and laugh. Oh! Oh how he loved her. The singsong of her laughter made the High Elder Vidyadhara's heart melt. Every day of the week, every hour, every minute, every second, night after night Dan Feng kept loving her more and more. His love for her knew no bounds and forever he was grateful for (Y/n) showing up in his life.
When her laughter died down she fixed the strands of hair that had been put out of place by the wind. She said something back, but he couldn't catch her words.
Suddenly she stopped in her tracks and he followed. Tilting his head to the side he asked her if she was okay. The lady beside him stepped so that she was now facing him. He could now get a much better view of her dazzling (e/c) irises. The red eyeliner around her eyes made them pop out even more.
Her mouth moved. She was saying something to him. And then her free hand reached up to brush his hair behind one of his long, pointed Vidyadhara ears. Her fingers then gently massaged his temple before moving to caress his cheek. Dan Feng leaned into her touch, allowing his eyes to close as he let out a sigh.
She said something else that made him open his eyes. He smiled at her and lifted his free hand to place on top of hers that was resting against his cheek, rubbing his thumb in slow circles upon her skin. He closed his eyes again.
But when he next opened his eyes, his (Y/n) was gone. The sun was also gone, replaced by gloomy clouds. Dan Feng was all alone. Her presence had disappeared from his life. No matter how hard he looked, how far he searched, he could not find his beautiful (Y/n). Even when he enlisted the help of his fellow members of the High-Cloud Quintet, none of them brought back the news he desired.
She had disappeared without a trace. Without any warning. No note left behind to explain her sudden disappearance. All her belongings in the little shop she lived at in the Alchemy Commission remained untouched and unattended to. Even her fellow alchemists had no idea what happened to her.
Dan Feng only felt emptiness from then on. A shell of the lovesick man he once was.
What happened to (Y/n)? Where did she go? Why didn't she tell him she was leaving and for what reason? Was it something he did? Something he said? Did he show her too much love and affection? Was she just sick of him? These questions constantly nagged him and he didn't have any way to answer them.
Through this grieving period for the one he loved so dearly, his close friend and fellow member of the High-Cloud Quintet, Yingxing, helped him take his mind off of her. Yingxing made him come along to his workshop where they would sit in silence as the blacksmith worked on forging various different types of weapons. Even though Dan Feng would stay silent during these times, it helped ease the pain of heartbreak.
He was laughing once more. Laughing alongside the other High-Cloud Quintet members as they all shared a cup of alcohol. Dan Feng, in private, gave his sincerest thanks to Yingxing. The two men clinked their cups against each other and raised them in the air. A toast to each other.
Maybe one day, somewhere in the far future, his path would cross with (Y/n) again. Then he could ask her why. But for now, he would accept that she was gone and go on with his life, clinging to all memories of her.
In the midst of laughter and enjoying alcohol with friends, Dan Feng heard a voice call out to him in the distance.
And then Dan Feng disappeared. Dan Feng morphed into Dan Heng and Dan Heng turned around slowly, afraid of who the voice belonged to that called out to him. Chuckles turned into laughter which made his heart beat faster in anticipation. That light hearted laughter transformed into something more maniacal and when Dan Heng finally turned around to face the owner of the voice, his eyes widened.
A man with long black hair and orange-red eyes stared at him with bloodlust, a broken blade tightly held in his right hand. He lifted the blade and pointed the tip at Dan Heng, grinning widely.
Dang Heng felt himself scream inside his dream before he woke up in a panic.
