MALINA JOGGED down the stairs of her apartment, and to the all black car that sat in the parking lot.

the day malinas mom decided to up and leave again, and rio had showed up just in time, taking her to his home, the two exchanged contacts.

malina insisted that she needed to have a way to contact him. she used the excuse that if something were to go wrong with her friends, she could be the next person in line that would be able to call him, but in reality she wanted to have his number for herself.

she opened the passenger door, sliding in the car with a small grin on her face.

"you know, the way you always show up dressed in all black— i feel like you're gonna try and kidnap me." she told him, glancing at his outfit.

he scoffed out a chuckle, "what would i need to kidnap you for?"

she shrugged, placing her arm on the console in the middle of them, and resting her chin against her hand. "whyd you tell me to come down here?"

he sat back in the drivers seat, pursing his lips. "wanted to see you."

a bigger smile formed on her face, but bit on her lip to prevent it from getting any bigger from the small thing he had said. "yeah?"

he hummed, glancing at her. he laughed at her pink tinted cheeks, the way she tried to cover her smile with her hand, and how she rolled her eyes the second he looked at her.

"so—" he started, making her turn back to him. "you feelin better than you did last time?"

malina clicked her tongue, pausing for a moment as she thought about how she truly felt.

in all honesty, she was obviously hurt by her mother leaving again. after trusting her with so many things, and allowing her back in, she decided to leave. but malina couldn't say she hadn't expected it.

the reason she didn't want to trust her mother again, was because she had a feeling deep down that she was going to leave again.

it was just something she did, and something malina was now, in a way, used to.

she wasn't so let down, because she had expected it from the moment she saw her mother at her front door.

malina nodded her head, "i am."

"still not gonna tell me what you were upset about?"

she glanced at him, "you're talking to me like a parent."

"i told you, it was my mom." she finished.

"specifically, i meant." he told her, making her purse her lips, and shake her head.

"doesn't matter, anymore."

he simply nodded, "you hungry?" he changed the subject.

she assumed he planned on taking her to get food, and she always got nervous when going anywhere with him, but she was never one to turn down food, and she actually was hungry. "yes."
