Prologue

It's hard to remember my childhood, when so much has happened between then and now. But when I think about it, the first thing I remember is the sun. The sun, and my mother, Indica. Well, she wasn't my biological mother, but she's the one who took me in. Taught me how to write, to read, to cook, to fight, and how to use magic. She was a dragon, The Elemental Dragon, to be specific. I was just a normal human girl who had no family. Yet that didn't matter to her. "Every living creature deserves to be loved no matter what." That's what she would say when I got mad at the simple things, like a bunny eating the berries I wanted. My name is Candace Bane, but everyone calls me Candy, and this is my story.
