Chapter Five : The Girl

During the night, Eli was able to sleep for two hours even though she wouldn't stop thinking of her friends who were stuck in the maze right now.

"Come on Eli! Give me your hand!" A male teenager yelled at her in her head.

"Let me save you!" The voice sounded familiar, a deep voice. Who was he ?

Eli had her body in the void, she did everything to hold with her hands. Maybe she should give him her hand.

Suddenly she got woken up by the doors opening.

All the Gladers where standing in front of the entrance to the maze. Nothing.

No one was there.

"I'm sorry, Chuck. They're not coming back." Newt told him with a sad smile.

Eli turned around and to walk away. Tears falling down her red cheeks. Her light brown eyes filled with tears.

"No way." Zart said.

Every Gladers turned back to the maze, Eli too. Surprisingly, they were here.

Thomas, Minho and Alby were here. They were alive.

Minho and Thomas were carrying Alby. When they put a feet inside the Glade. They laid down Alby.

Eli was looking at Minho. He turned to look at her and even more surprisingly, he hugged her tightly. She hugged him back, her face inside his neck. They didn't say anything, they just like that until someone talk.

"Did you saw a Griever ?" someone asked.

Minho let her go softly.

"Yeah. I saw one." Thomas explained.

"He didn't just see it." Minho takes a deep breath. "He killed it." He finished.

All the Gladers were shocked, all their mouth were formed by a 'o'. The fact that it was the first time a Glader killed a Griever let everyone speechless.

"Things are changing." Gally spoke up in the council room. A lot of Gladers were present, including Eli.

"There's no denying that." He continued. Everyone was listening to him. "First, Ben got stung in the broad daylight and then Alby."

Minho was staring at Eli who was listening attentively at Gally. Eli turned her face to Minho and caught him staring. He quickly turned his face to Gally, blushing.

"And now, our Greenie here has taken it upon himself to go into the maze." Gally raised a bit his voice, making Thomas lift his head to look at Gally.

"Which is a clear violation of our rules here."

"Yeah, but he saved Alby's life." Frypan said.

"Did he ?" Gally asked.

Eli sneered quietly at him which Minho and Thomas noticed and made them laugh quietly.

"For three years, we have coexisted with these things and now you've killed one of them." Gally pointed at Thomas.

"What do you think it means for us ?" Gally asked to the Gladers but no one answered.

"Well, what do you suggest we do ?" Newt asked him.

"He has to be punished." Gally clearly said.

All the Glader present were protesting.

"Minho. You were with him. What do you think?" Newt asked Minho.

Eli turned to Minho, listening to him carefully.
