In These Coming Years

Chapter 6

*Brendon's POV*

" So, I'm guessing we'll go on after you guys?" Alice asked.

" Yeah. Just sit on the side of the stage or you can ask Zack to bring you to the front of the crowd," I said.

" I can push my way through."

" Don't do that. I don't want people getting hurt. But if they're assholes, go right ahead," I chuckled.

*Alice's POV*

Brendon & the band were getting dressed, so I was taking a little stroll around the music festival. Erin was with me.

" Let's get some ice cream," he said, pointing at an ice cream stand.

" But I might spill it on myself because of everyone bumping into me!" I wined.

" Too bad. I'm buying us both," he said rushing over there. I placed my glasses on top of my head & sat on a bench. Soon, he gave me my ice cream.

" Okay where to now?" I asked. I felt someone tap my shoulder.

" Um, excuse me?" I heard. I turned around to the voice & saw a young woman standing there.
" Can I get a picture with you? I saw your band perform at the fair," she smiled. I nodded. She handed Erin the camera.

When we finished taking the picture, she thanked us & left. " I didn't think anyone would recognize us until after tour maybe," Erin chuckled.

" Yeah, I know right."

I wasn't really feeling the crowd today, so I just decided to sit on the side of the stage & watch Brendon perform. He'd look at me time to time during the set & wink when he'd say certain words.

" Okay. I don't know what song to play now. We should me off by now, but I think we have time for one more song," Brendon said into the mic. The crowd cheered. " Any requests?"

" Dedicate a song to your wife or daughter!" I heard someone yell.

" What song specifically?" Brendon asked the fan.

" Do When The Day Met The Night!" Another fan yelled.

" Cover a Fall Out Boy song!" Another one yelled.

" I don't cover Fall Out Boy's songs," Brendon said.

" All The Boys!" A few people yelled.

" Okay, I'll do that one!" Brendon smiled.

When the song ended, Brendon's shirt disappeared & it was time for the Dirty Diamonds to play. I got really nervous, just walking over to center stage. Brendon didn't get off the stage yet.

" Please welcome m'lady's band, the Dirty Diamonds!" He said into the mic & the crowd cheered. He gave me a quick kiss before walking to the side of the stage & the crowd cheered again.

I grabbed a mic. " Hi guys. My name is Alice Urie & we're the Dirty Diamonds! Alright, this song is our anthem, so we'll start with that," I said.

*Brendon's POV*

Alice seriously had the crowd going. She danced through the set as she sang. As she finished one of her songs called Fire, she sat on the very edge of the stage. The crowd is really close to touching her.

She leaned over a little & touched some of the fans' hands. " Okay, since I LOVE my husband's band so much, I think I'll cover on of his songs. What do you think?" She looked at me & the crowd roared. She walked over to Erin. " Hey bud," she wrapped her arm around him & he wrapped his around her. " What song do you wanna do?"

" How about Miss Jackson? It's one of your husband's newest songs. Plus, I wanna see if you could land that backflip," he winked at her.

" Alright! Miss Jackson it is!" She said before the music started.

Near the end of the song, she got up on high ground. I saw her facial expression, she looked too nervous to do a backflip. I've never seen her do one. Then she flipped & landed it!

" I LOVE HER ANYWAY!" She sang & the crowd cheered.

Her set was soon over & she jumped into my arms, wrapping her arms around my neck & legs around my waist.

" You did great! You landed that flip!" I said.

" I know! I never even knew I could do that!" She grinned.

" Do you have any sets you wanna watch? Fall Out Boy is here," I smirked.

" What time are they going on?" She asked as I set her down on her feet.

" In about an hour. We got time. We're doing a meet & greet if you wanna come with us. Your band could sign some stuff."

" Yeah, sure."

We headed over to the meet & greet tent. Seems like most of the fans wanted to be near Erin, Omar & Jason more. I sat on the couch on my phone.

Me: Jessie, where are you?! You missed my set!

I sent her the text & sighed.

Jessie: Nope. I totally saw that backflip Al. (Picture of me mid-flip)
Me: WHERE ARE YOU?!
Jessie: Zack is bring me to the tent right now.

I saw Jessie walk through the entrance & I rushed over to her, wrapping my arms around her. " You were amazing!" She said.

" Thank you! I had no idea I had it in me," I chuckled letting go of her. I gestured her to sit on the couch with me until the meet & greet was over. I saw a couple of fans burst through the tent.

" Is Dirty Diamonds in here?!" They asked. Zack pointed at me & my band. Some fans rushed over to me & the rest over to the boys.

" You're thee Alice Urie?! I can't believe you're in a band now, just like your husband! That's so cute! Can you sign my shirt?!" The girl asked. I chuckled & nodded. She handed me a sharpie.

I handed her back the sharpie. I hugged her tight. I signed a couple more things from the rest of the fans that came to us. Then Zack kicked everybody out.

" Someone's famous now," Jessie nudged my arm & smirked.

" Whatever. You could be in this band too," I said.

" Um, no I can't. Can't play instruments," she said.

" But you can sing. We could BOTH be vocalists!" I smiled. " Come on! Just imagine it. Going on tour with me."

" I can't Al. Plus, I'm not really up for being a rockstar. I just don't have the type of attitude to be one."

" Your attitude is more sassy than mine, Jess. You can. You don't have to be in my band. But you can make your own! Brendon can get you signed just like he did for me!"

" Not happening."

" Why not?!"

" I just don't want too. I'm fine with just chilling with you backstage when you finish your sets."

" So, you wanna come on tour with me?" I asked.

" It's all up to your husband & his band. I'm free!"

" What happend to your boyfriend?"

" Business trip."

" Oh," I turned to Brendon. " CAN JESSIE COME WITH US ON TOUR BABE?!"

He flinched a little bit. " Oh my God! NO NEED TO YELL IM RIGHT HERE! AND SURE I DONT MIND!" He yelled back louder.

" Might wanna pack your bags while we're still here. We're only staying for today & a little bit of tomorrow."

" Okay."

A/N: Yay Jessie is coming on tour! Should I put her in a band? Alice's band? Or should she stay as is?
