Since being told about The Great Migration at a young age, Facilier knew he wanted better for himself. Growing up in New Orleans, he became fascinated with music, specifically jazz due to watching his father and uncle Langston's rehearsals.
When he became a teenager, he took odd jobs such as a paperboy/poet, a sweeper, a shoeshiner, and a substitute for his uncle's class. One day while working a double shift as a shoeshiner and a paperboy, he met someone who "put mind at ease". He fell hard for a young French woman named Belle, but that didn't happen.
Already tired of the harsh whispers, of being ignored for his background, and of any negative treatment coming his way, he decided to take matters into his own hands. ———————-
