*Church*

"Good morning, church!" Preacher Malcolm Luther greeted with a smile. "Morning, pastor!" Everybody replied, eagerly awaiting to hear his sermon.

"So, I am sure that you all have heard about what President Roosevelt is planning to do for this country, and for us negroes." He stated, gaining lots of groans from people who were likely tired of the so-called "help".

"That's right! I hope so, lord knows I trust him with all my might and all my he-"

*flashback*
"Chin up, Andell, you'll be okay, trust me." My mother said, hugging me. "Look, sweetie, this may have been a blessing in disguise."
*Flashback end*

Hopefully. I thought, hearing words of God through the pastor as he continues to preach. "Now, our young Ms. Andell, over there!" He says, making all eyes go on me as I nervously stood up.

"...Ms. Andell here is going to give us an announcement on this opportunity she picked to help us raise funds for a new Sunday school bakery in the neighborhood."

Langston 'Sunny' pov

"Well, I wouldn't have to if you did what I asked."

"Why, you said it was good before, so why change now!?" I complained, annoyed and pissed at his last-minute changes. "Is it because you want to impress that damn fat, pig-eating, bigot-headed honky?" I added, yelling with frustration, noticing how quiet he went when I mentioned, 'impressing the honky'...hm, some brother he is!

"Now come on with th--"

"With what, man!? You know it, I know it and I know damn An--!"

"DON'T!.." He yells in the calmest yet tired tone. "Don't even bring her up, alright!?!" He warned, pointing his finger at me with that same oddly calm tone. The looks from it, he must have had a lot in his mind to yell at me. He is usually the mild-tempered, compared to me. "Zeke, man...My fa-, I'm sorry." I apologized, feeling bad that I, his brother and partner-in-crime did not see what was really going on. "I should not have said that I know you just want make things go well." I added, moving closer to where he was sitting in front of the piano, with a piece of paper in his hand.

"...Nah, it's...look" he says, shrugging as he paused with a half-smile. "Thanks for your apology, I appreciate, but that's not really it." He admits. "If you don't m-." I tried to say but from the sounds of it, he was already out the door.

"Damn..." I said, hearing the door slam and just as it couldn't get worse, I noticed something fell. I bend down to pick it up only to discover some crumbled-up paper. 'Was he ab-. Well, I'll be damn!"

(Andell pov)
Despite the problems Zeke is having with his brother Langston, I know in the end, God has got them. Plus, I heard from the girls that Ezekiel has made plan for me.

*a picnic far but nearby the church*

"My lonely days are over, And Life is like a Song" I said smiling to myself while watching the sunset in the sky with Zeke next to me, playing his ukulele.  "You look beautiful, my Calliope."

Blushing at his words, he looks at me with both amusement and love as he sings, 'Say, say, say what you want but don't play games with my affection'. Smiling like a little kid while he strums his ukulele, he continues 'Take, take, take! what you need!' I joined, getting up to join him. Dancing all silly and cute as he watched with that same amusement just made me melt like ice cream. Aww, I adore this man!

'Waiting for you baby (baby)' We sang, smiling and dancing in the grass, just having a gay ol' time. Still playing his ukulele, he began to move closer to me where I was leaning on the big oak tree, just admiring this marvelous day our dear Lord has blessed.

*flashbacks*
"You are looking like Queen Nubia, why so down?" I swear, that Sunny Bridges guy is something! With that thought in mind, I playfully rolled my eyes. "..Just thinking, Bridges. What's it to you?"

"Now, now...Take it easy!" He assured, putting his hands up with a smile. "Just being a neighbor like the good ol' lord wants us to be!" He continued

--------------------

"So! You were looking for me and my brother Zeke?" Langston asked but received no response from me. "Yeah, you were looking for us!" He teased.

"Yes, there is.. but I am afraid of what he'll say." I told Langston. "Just tell me, Andell, and whatever it is, I'm here." He assured.

-------------------------

"Chin up, Andell, you'll be okay, trust me." My mother said, hugging me.
*End of flashbacks*

You are truly a work of art." He said, making me blush as he kissed me and kept on playing his ukulele like if nothing happened. 'Go where you want but don't leave me here forever. You, you, you!' He happily sings, holding the palm of my hand to caress and kiss. 'What can I do, girl, to get through to you' He continues as he playfully points at me with his finger and when he looked me in the eyes, I held onto his sweater vest, pulling him close to me, where I could just kiss him, but I just took off.

Chasing me in circle around the church, our laughter and lighthearted teasing were filling up the air, he loudly sings 'baby' which made me join in. '(baby)' I replied, giggling as I watched him acting like he is dopey the dwarf. He is surely something else, thank you lord! For this man, I thank you so much!!

'Standing here.' He sings, no longer playing his instrument as he dropped it and just walked over to me. Giggling like a schoolgirl at a hot summer day, Zeke immediately picked me up in bridal style as he was taking me back to our spot.

'You never ever worry and you never shed a tear' He sings as if he was making a promise. 'You're saying that my love ain't real' He continues, lowering his head a bit to eskimo kiss me. 'Just look at my face!' I joined, singing as we kissed. Pulling away smiling from the kiss we just shared, I knew in my heart that I wanted us to stay, stay together. Within the moment of us just sitting close to each other, I told him the big news.

——————-

"Will you do me the honor of being my wife?" He nervously proposed, opening a box that reveals an engagement ring. "Yes. Yes!" I replied, crying with a smile as memories of us flash through my mind as I looked at the ring. "YES, I WILL MARRY YOU!" I told him, nodding my head as he helped put the ring on my finger. Once he got back on his feet, we hugged, feeling the tears of joy dripping on the other clothes but we were so happy and in love about this new plus the pregnancy to care.

(2nd pov)
At the end of the Harlem Renaissance, which was 1937, the Facilier brothers split up due to many differences. Despite the pregnancy, Andell and Zeke, unfornately lost their baby, but they managed to move on from the loss as they spent time with loved ones and the heavenly father. Plus, by 1937, they moved to New Orleans
