Adalina took a deep breath. Her eyes slowly fluttered open. She was glad to be back in her own bed. She felt an arm around her waist and looked over to her right. Lewis was still sleeping. He was laying on his stomach with his head towards her. His arm was tossed over her. Adalina shifted slightly so she was facing him.

His eyelashes brushed against his cheeks. His back rose up and down steadily with each breath he took. She smiled watching him sleep. He looked so peaceful, and it brought her peace.

"You're staring," he murmured without opening his eyes.

"I thought you were asleep."

"I was. I've been up for about an hour. Just didn't want to disrupt you," he finally opened his chocolate brown eyes.

Adalina leaned forward and kissed him quickly. He kissed her back, pulling her close. Their legs tangled together as their lips moved together. She eventually pulled away and cuddled into his chest.

"Mmmm. I could get used to this."

"I know what you mean," Lewis kissed her forehead.

She wove their fingers together. Adalina was content. She rolled them over so she was laying on top of Lewis'. She felt a chuckle rumble through his chest. Adalina kissed his jaw and laid her head right over his heart. It beat steadily in her ear while she wrapped her arms around him. Lewis wrapped his arms around her back and threw his legs over hers.

"I love you."

"I love you more," she moved one hand to his cheek.

"Did you picture this as our future when we started seeing each other?"

"I hoped that I would be so lucky," she sighed.

"I always liked you. I liked you the first time I met you."

"I told Susie I thought you were cute that day. She told me that Toto would fire you so fast."

"Really?"

"Mhmmm," she hummed rubbing his cheek, "are you hungry? I'm hungry."

"I could eat. How about I make us some pancakes?"

"Perfect!"

Adalina hadn't been vegan when she first started dating Lewis. She knew it was important to him, so she slowly transitioned to being vegan as well. She cut out red meat and pork first. She then cut out poultry. She was a pescatarian for a month before being fully vegetarian. It was another two months before she was vegan. It had take some time to get used to, but she loved it.

Lewis kissed her forehead. She rolled off of him and slowly sat up. She moved back to her side of the bed and stretched her arms above her head. Adalina rolled her neck and waited for it to crack. She grabbed her crutches and stood up. She tucked her phone into the pocket of her shorts.

Lewis was stretching as well. He leaned down and pet Roscoe's head. The bullie had jumped off their bed sometime in the middle of the night and was in his own bed.

Adalina and Lewis walked out of her room. She went to go down the stairs, but Lewis grabbed her waist. He pulled her into him and then picked her up, tossing her over his shoulders. She let out a squeal and then began laughing. He took her crutches in his other hand and walked down into the kitchen. He set her down and kissed her forehead.

"Oh look at you being all cute and sweet like you didn't just toss me around like a rag doll," she rolled her eyes.

"I thought you liked when I tossed you around like a rag doll, baby," he smirked and kissed her cheek.

"Yeah I do," she rolled her eyes and went to sit down. She pulled her phone out and started scrolling around. She heard Roscoe come down the stairs. He ran into the kitchen. She smiled when he walked over to her. She leaned down and pet his head. He licked her fingers before going out of the doggie door she had installed for him.

Adalina stood up and changed the water in his bowl. Lewis was taking his food out of the microwave. He set it down next his water bowl. He gently slapped her butt.

"Hey!"

Lewis only chuckled. She rolled her eyes and sat back down. Roscoe came back in and sat down next to her. She smiled and began petting him again. He licked her fingers excitedly. She scratched his chin and kissed his nose.

"Sweet baby boy."

"You're such a dog mom, and Roscoe isn't even with you full time," Lewis mused.

"I wish I had a dog all the time."

"I can leave Roscoe with you. He loves you."

"Oh, I couldn't ask you to do that. You two are so close. I'll just get my own dog."

"Yeah?"

"I've been thinking a lot about it."

"I think that would be great for you, love," Lewis kissed her forehead.
