"Adalina Bauer?"

"That's me," Adalina stood up.

Lewis picked up her purse. He waited and put a hand on her lower back. They walked to the where the nurse was waiting. The hospital had done tests and an ultrasound, but this was the first official appointment with her doctor. The nurse gave her a warm smile.

They went into a room, and she was directed to stand on the scale. Adalina didn't bother looking at the number. She then went and sat on the table. Lewis sat in the chair next to it. The nurse took her blood pressure and asked a few routine questions before confirming the dosage of her anti-nausea medications from the hospital. The doctor would be taking over that prescription.

The nurse left, leaving Adalina and Lewis in the room alone. He took her hand and gently kissed her knuckles. She quickly kissed the top of his hand.

"Are you ready to see our baby?" She looked at him.

"Yes," he grinned.

"I'm so ready. Do you think we'll get to find out what we're having?"

"Maybe. We'll have to see."

There was a knock on the door before it opened. Dr. Moore, Adalina's OBGYN, walked in. He was an older gentleman who had delivered all four of his grandchildren. He always made Adalina feel comfortable. He gave her a kind smile.

"Guten Morgen, Adalina. Wie fühlen Sie sich?"

"Guten Morgen, mir geht es besser, danke. Können wir Englisch sprechen? Lewis spricht kein Deutsch," Adalina asked seeing the confusion on Lewis' face.

"Of course. Sorry about that. I'm Dr. Moore," he held his hand out to Lewis.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Lewis, Adalina's boyfriend."

"Congratulations," he smiled.

"Thank you," Lewis grinned.

He sat down and put on a pair of gloves, "Madeline said that the anti-nausea pill the hospital gave you was working well?"

"Yes. It's definitely helped. I mean, I still get sick now and then, but it's not as severe as it was."

"Good good. We'll stick with this dosage for now, and hopefully, we can start to wean you off in a couple of months."

"Okay sounds good."

"Are you two ready to see your baby?"

"Yes," Adalina nodded. Lewis grinned and squeezed her hand.

"Okay. Go ahead and lift your shirt up. Just so you know, the gel might be a little cold."

Adalina lifted her shirt up and pulled the waistband of her yoga pants down a little lower. She had started to show. She was enjoying seeing the bump, and she enjoyed when Lewis rubbed it even more. It made it feel more real.

She shivered slightly and felt a few goosebumps appear on her arms when the gel was applied. Dr. Moore started moving it around with the ultrasound wand. It was only a few seconds before a blurry image was on the screen.

"Alright. There is your baby. Heartbeat is nice and strong as you can hear," Dr. Moore smiled.

"Can you tell the gender?" Lewis asked.

"I can. Would you like to know?"

Adalina looked over at Lewis. His eyes were bright and wide. Their eyes connected. She could see her own excitement reflected back at her. Lewis squeezed her hand.

Adalina nodded, "yes please."

"You're having a girl!"

"A girl!" Lewis beamed.

"Yay!"

Lewis grabbed Adalina and kissed her cheek. He hugged her tightly as Dr. Moore continued through his checks on their baby. Adalina kissed Lewis' lips quickly. He was murmuring 'I love you' over and over.

"That's everything. I'll see you back here in four weeks. You can make the appointment with Jaqueline at the front desk. Congratulations on your little girl!" Dr. Moore smiled as he wiped the gel off her stomach.

"Thank you," Adalina smiled.

"Have a great rest of your day," he shook Lewis' hand before leaving.

"Baby girl Hamilton!" Lewis hugged her again.

"Baby girl Hamilton," Adalina echoed.
