Adalina pushed her sunglasses further up her nose. She had left the garage and was looking at the podium. The Brazilian air was warm and humid. It was very different to how Germany was at this time of year. If it was a normal year, Adalina would be getting ready for games with Wolfsburg's. But it wasn't a usual year. Unfortunately, Adalina had torn her ACL and MCL in the first game of the season.

She had surgery to repair her ligaments, but she needed a second one after she developed a nasty infection which turned into sepsis and landed her in the ICU. Adalina didn't remember much, but she heard that it had been touch and go for a while. She decided that she needed to get out of Germany for a while. Fortunately, her godfather was happy to have her along for the rest of the season.

"Adalina Bauer!"

Adalina smiled as she carefully crutched over to where SkySports F1 was. She stopped and took the microphone.

"Adalina, first of all, how are you feeling? You were in the ICU not too long ago."

"Yes, that was quite scary for my friends, family and teammates. I don't remember most of it. I'm feeling much better than before, thank you. I'm excited to be travelling with Toto and Mercedes. Formula 1 is second in my heart only to football. I think it'll be good for me to get a reset before I can start training again."

"How long do you expect the rest of your recovery to be?"

"Typically the recovery for an ACL and MCL is eight months to a year. I had a chunk of muscle that needed to be removed so I'm thinking it'll be closer to a year before I can play again. Disappointing, but I'm not going to rush anything."

"Understandable. Who do you think is going to win this weekend?"

"I really want Lewis to get back to winning ways. I'm sick of seeing Max in first," Adalina laughed.

"I heard my name?"

Adalina looked over her shoulder and grinned. Lewis quickly kissed her cheek. She hugged him tightly, resting her chin on his shoulder. He gently rubbed her back before they pulled apart. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and her arm went around his waist.

"Don't mind me crashing this interview," Lewis joked.

"We don't mind at all. Lewis, are you happy to have Adalina travelling with Mercedes?"

"No," Lewis deadpanned.

Adalina's jaw dropped as she gasped. She used her other hand and lightly smacked his stomach. Lewis started laughing.

"You jerk!"

"No, I'm ecstatic to have Lina with us. She's great to have in your corner," Lewis explained.

"That's better."

"Adalina was just saying how she's sick of Max winning all the time. How are you feeling?"

"I'll be the first to admit that I am not happy with my performances this season, but it's not over yet. Shall we, Lina?" Lewis looked at her, all but signalling the interview was over.

"Thank you both for your time."

Adalina smiled and nodded. She handed the microphone back. She began crutching away towards the Mercedes garage. Lewis kept a steady hand in the middle of her back. He guided them through the hustle bustle. He waved to fans with his other hand before they ducked into the garage.

"Ada, Lewis. I was just wondering where you were," Susie walked over with a smile.

"Hi," Adalina smiled. She gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Hi, Susie," Lewis kissed her cheek quickly as well.

"I got stopped for a quick interview with SkySports, and Lewis here crashed it."

"Oh yeah?" Susie raised an eyebrow, "Ada, tell me you didn't say anything controversial."

"I said I was sick of seeing Max in first place."

"Adalina Marie Bauer!"

"Wha-at?" She whined.

"Now why are you getting full named, Ada?" Toto gently tugged on one of her braids from behind her.

Adalina smiled at her godfather. He had a big smile on his face. He pulled her in for a hug and kissed her forehead. She kissed his cheek. Toto then greeted Lewis warmly.

"Ada told SkySports she was sick of seeing Max in first place," Susie shook her head.

"Let's be honest, that was pretty tame for Lina. She's said much worse in the past," Lewis snorted.

"This is true," Toto agreed, "but how about you just don't talk to the media about us from now on?"

"You gonna give me a media handler?" Adalina smirked.

"I just might have to. You're a liability," Toto chuckled.

"I'm not that bad!"

"Uh huh," Susie rolled her eyes.

"Yes, you are!" Lewis laughed, "especially on social media."

Adalina rolled her eyes at the driver. She stuck her tongue out at him. It was childish, but she didn't really care.

"I will bite your tongue," Lewis glared at her.

"I hope you do," Adalina fired back, making Toto clear his throat.

"Lewis, there's only an hour and a half until the race starts. We need to get ready," Toto changed the subject.

"Understood, boss," Lewis nodded. He ducked his head and gently squeezed her side before walking away.

"How's the leg feeling after moving around a bit? You didn't get run over did you? We have comfy chairs all set up for you with the crew," Toto looked at Adalina.

"No, I didn't. Managed to stay on my feet. Leg's okay. It's still stiff, but it's been worse. And thank you," she smiled.

"You're very welcome. Feel free to talk to Angela if you want," he kissed her forehead.

"I will."

She hugged him, careful to not unbalance herself. Adalina hugged and kissed Susie's cheek before moving away. She wondered further back in the garage.

She looked over her shoulder before letting herself into Lewis' room. She closed the door behind her and turned around. Lewis was standing there just in his boxer briefs with a smirk.

"Took you long enough."

"Shut the fuck up," she huffed, taking off and throwing her shirt to the side.

"Watch your mouth," he walked over. He grabbed her hips and pulled her close to him. His cologne swirled around her while she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Make me," she smirked, sticking her tongue out.

He leaned down, and Adalina expected him to kiss her. She loved kissing Lewis, and he knew it. Instead, he bit her tongue quickly. She let out a small yelp.

"Oi!"

"I told you I was going to bite your tongue, Lina. Don't act surprised."

She connected their lips in a passionate kiss. It had been their pre-race tradition for the last eight months whenever she was at a race. Lewis leaned down a little bit and wrapped his arms around her thighs. Lewis carried her over to the sofa. He carefully threw her down before climbing on top of her. They continued to make out. Adalina ran her fingers down his back.

"Are we ever gonna tell Toto?" He asked, kissing down her neck.

"Not a chance in hell, Sir."
