Kaili shifted her head in annoyance due to a monotonous beeping that bugged her ears. Blinking awake, her vision cleared and she was met with glass windows looking out into a darkened living space. 'I'm..at work?', she began hoarsely right as the door swung open with a grand crash
'LI-LI!'
A soft mess of violet and brown bundled her into a warm tight hug, her hands shaking as she returned the kind gesture, 'Liya?', she realized, her memory flooding back, 'Oh my God where's YuXuan?'
Liya's round face tightened, 'He was slippery, but I think you weakened him enough. He was easy to catch after he tripped down the stairs'
'Did you find the files?'
She watched as her friend's face morphed into slight confusion, 'Shit!', she cursed, throwing her legs off the table and attempting to stand, 'We have to find him now, we can't-'
Her bones yelled at her, forcing her to sit back down, 'Don't worry', Liya reassured her, helping her back, 'We'll get it out of him, we have him in custody for injuring legal authority anyway'
'I'm not used to fighting anymore', Kaili sighed, looking up at the intricate tiled ceiling that brimmed with dimmed string lights
'It's been a while', Liya agreed, 'And..at least you're not dead'

'YuXuan', Dongmin began, staring at the bruised and bloodied man opposite him, 'I didn't know you were violent'
'I did what I did to secure myself', he sniffled, the bandage taped across his nose stained with rich dark blood, 'And I still don't understand why you guys are here interviewing me'
'Because you harmed someone of high legal authority?'
His lips smacked in annoyance, 'Your person of high legal authority was going to take my personal documents along with other members of my family and do who knows what with it', he expressed swiftly, 'Not only that but they never mentioned a return date for those documents either'
'What are you hiding?', Dongmin instead questioned causing him to look around in utter shock
'Seriously?', he scoffed, 'I was nice, I cooperated with you guys. I actually didn't mind your snooping during my brother's funeral, but when you're taking my private information especially my banking details?, I can't accept that'
Dongmin remained silent watching his happiness fade to reveal true emotion. 'Desperation', he realized, his sense piquing with excitement at the breakthrough
'Where are the files?', he asked, suppressing his laughter at his drained face
'Wouldn't you like to know..'
'I apologize for Kaili's decisions', he started, 'But I'd like to still see whats inside those files. This time however, we will give it back unless of course it paints you to be the culprit. Then under the evidence laws I'm allowed to use it'
'...You'll give it back?'
'If nothing is out of the ordinary then yes'
YuXuan folded his scratched arms and reached into his checkered jacket before pulling out 2 files, each one unique with a cartoon sticker plastered across it. 'I'm only trusting you because you can see through me', he answered, 'And yes, I'm human, I don't smile all the time'
'I know', Dongmin replied, snatching the files from his reluctant grip, 'And..you do know that it is fine to not smile all the time right?'
He chuckled, watching him flip through it carefully, 'I can't afford to be anything but happy and smiley', he confessed, 'It's not an option'
