"It seems as though she has the ability control light waves." The professor inquired. The X-Men were sat in Xavier's office, trying to figure out the girl, who had said her name was Aurora. Kurt laughed internally, a rather fitting name for a mutant who could control light.

"Or electricity.." Jean countered, "That would explain why the lights went out wouldn't it?"

"Hey Storm, looks like you might have some opposition!" Logan joked, cigar between his teeth as he leaned against the wall. Ororo laughed and plucked the cigar from his mouth, "No smoking in the school Logan.." He grumbled and took the cigar back, putting it out and returning to the conversation.

"Both would explain the reason that the lights went out, but Xavier's theory is the only one that supports the way that she manipulated that red glow." Hank interjected, "It would be quite possible for her to just prevent the light waves from escaping the bulb, or absorb them instantly. It's quite amazing really, she's manipulating the very laws of physics!"

Kurt couldn't concentrate on the conversation from then on, he was busy thinking about Aurora. The way that she sounded so scared, and how she'd been so devastated that she'd completely shut out all of the lights on the med-lab level. He thought back to the way that even Jean had struggled to bypass her anger to knock her unconscious. There was so much pain in her. He wondered if she was always that way, or if she was just reacting to what had happened. The sound of her voice was the thing that had stuck with him most though, it was so musical and soft; even when she was scared or angry. He could only imagine what it'd be like if she were to talk to him like-

"Kurt!" Scott's voice jolted him from his daydream. "We're done here, it's time for your class." Scott was the mathematics and engineering teacher, not many students really liked him but he did a good job at getting them to learn. Kurt sighed and moved to stand up from the comfortable chair, when Xavier called over to him from his desk.

"Yes Professor?"

"I was going to ask how your image inducer is holding up; you haven't had any problems with it have you?"

After Kurt had left Aurora to wake up, the Professor had called him into his office with a gift to help him deal with the way that he looked. It was a watch that produced a hologram which followed his movements to give the illusion that he was a regular looking person. He'd put it on and worn it ever since.

"Ah, ja, it's great Professor! I must admit zough, mein tail seems to have ein habit of moving outside of zhe hologram, it looks a bit strange!" They laughed and Kurt showed Xavier what he meant - he looked like a regular teenager with a blue demon tail whipping around behind him, which was quite the opposite level of inconspicuous that they were aiming for. Still, it helped Kurt with his general appearance, and for that, he was eternally grateful. It wasn't that he hated his appearance, it was that others did, and they made sure to let him know about it.

"Anyway, Kurt, you have class; I have informed your teacher of your whereabouts."

"Okay, thanks again Professor!"

Xavier chuckled, "It's no problem Kurt" and with that, the teenage mutant disappeared into thin air.

Aurora woke up, tears streaming down her face as she mourned the loss of her parents, and her old life. She could never go back. She could never give them a funeral. Hank had allowed her to stay in the med-lab for now as they prepared a room for her, she had been told that because she was over sixteen she would be given her own private room in the girl's dorm block. She was quiet and never spoke, it was as though the news had ripped out her voice along with her heart, she also slept a lot, drifting in and out of consciousness she didn't know how many times a day.
