"Jungwon, it's time for you to head home."

Jungwon |

Before I could say anything, Heeseung spoke up again, "Don't worry, Jungwon. I'll teleport you home."

"But fair warning, you might faint during the teleportation."

"Faint?!" I exclaimed, a bit alarmed by the prospect.

Sunghoon explained, "Humans aren't exactly built for teleportation. It's a lot for your system to handle."

Nervously, I nodded, trying to prepare myself for the upcoming experience. Heeseung reassured me, "Don't worry. I'll make sure you're okay."

He then stood up. "First things first, let me check if your parents are home."

With a swift movement, Heeseung vanished, leaving me in anticipation. A minute later, he reappeared, confirming, "No one's home. You'll be alone tonight."

Ni-ki, with a mischievous glint in his eye, added, "Guess it's just you and the ghosts, Jungwon."

"Ready to go?"

I took a deep breath and nodded. Heeseung gently grabbed my arm, and in an instant, the surroundings blurred as we teleported.

When the world stopped spinning, and I opened my eyes, I found myself in my own bed. Next to me sat Heeseung, watching over me with a concerned expression.

"I fainted, right?" I asked.

Heeseung nodded.

I sat up. "Thanks for bringing me home."

He smiled, "No problem. Are you feeling alright now?"

"Yeah, just a bit dizzy."

Sitting next to Heeseung, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort. He spoke up first, his tone becoming serious.

"You and Jay, there's something there, isn't it?"

I wasn't sure how to respond, so I hesitated before admitting, "I don't know. We're close, and I'm still figuring things out."

"Do you like him?"

I nodded, feeling a warmth spreading through me. "Yeah.. I do."

Heeseung's eyes reflected understanding. "Jungwon, Jay really likes you a lot. Every time he comes home, he's literally glowing, always smiling once he leaves the house. I want you two to work out, to be happy together. Just be careful."

I was taken aback by the sincerity in Heeseung's words. "Why are you telling me this?"

Heeseung looked down, his voice barely above a whisper. "Because I've been in love with a human before, too. We were happy, but I didn't protect him enough. I lost him."

He smiled softly, a bittersweet expression on his face, "You know, Jungwon, talking to you kind of reminds me of my past lover. He had a warmth in his eyes, just like yours."

I felt a pang of sympathy for Heeseung's pain. "I'm sorry.."

Heeseung shook his head, his gaze distant. "No need to apologize. I just want you and Jay to be cautious and to protect each other."

As he stood to leave, he placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder.

"Take care of yourself, Jungwon. And take care of Jay. You both deserve happiness. I don't want either of you to feel the pain I did."

"I'll give my best, I promise," I reassured him.

As Heeseung prepared to leave, he said, "I should probably head home now. Are you going to be okay?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine. I'll just tell my parents I was at a classmate's house or something."

Heeseung smiled, "Good. And hey, hopefully, we'll meet again someday."

"Oh, and Jungwon, just in case; If Jay ever wants to bite you on the neck; I heard that's how vampires mark their favorite humans," he said, winking.

And then, he vanished, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

Meeting Jay's friends had been unexpected, but surprisingly great.

Sunoo's words echoed in my mind - "Jay likes you a lot."

If that was true, then why hadn't we taken that step beyond friendship? Was I misinterpreting things, or was there a reason he hadn't expressed his feelings?

Tomorrow, I promised myself. Tomorrow, I would find a moment to talk to Jay.

I smiled, thinking about the way he had cared for me during the evening.

Yet, Sunoo's revelation added a layer of complexity. Maybe Jay was waiting for the right moment or was unsure how I felt.

As I drifted into sleep, thoughts of tomorrow's conversation danced in my mind. What would he say? How would he react to me bringing up such a topic?

The next day arrived, and I found myself sitting on a bench, waiting for Jay.

When he finally arrived, he apologized for being late. I assured him it was fine, and we sat down together. He asked if I was alright, and I nodded, not wanting to burden the moment.

As Jay reached to brush away a strand of hair from my face, I flinched, surprising both him and me. Concern etched across Jay's face as he examined me closely.

"Is everything okay? Did something happen?"

I hesitated but decided honesty was the best policy.

"It's not something you should worry about. It's just... my parents, you know? They were quite angry yesterday.."

Jay's eyes reflected concern, but he nodded as if trying to reassure himself. "I'm sorry they hurt you. I really can't understand them."

"Let's not dwell on that. Let's talk about something else."

So, we started walking together, just chatting about random stuff. It was nice, and we ended up in this quiet place with no people around.

I could tell Jay had something on his mind. You know when someone looks like they want to say something but aren't sure how to start?

I noticed him staring into the distance, and I nudged him playfully. "Hey, what's going on in that head of yours?"

He smiled but seemed a bit hesitant. "Well, there's something I've been wanting to talk to you about."

"Go ahead. You know you can tell me anything."

I could sense a mix of nerves and excitement in his expression as he began talking, "Jungwon, these past weeks I've been really thinking a lot, and.."

He looked into my eyes. "From the moment we met, something clicked for me. I didn't realize it at first, but as time passed, I couldn't ignore the feeling. I've fallen for you, Jungwon, in a way I've never felt before."

My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a warmth spreading through me. But Jay didn't seem to stop.

"When I see you smile, it's like the world lights up. I seriously can't imagine my life without you anymore. I cherish every single moment we spend together, and I've been trying to find the right words to tell you how much you mean to me. As days turned into nights, my feelings for you grew stronger - It's like you have this magical ability to make everything better. You've become the center of my world, the person I turn to in both joy and sorrow. Your presence is a comfort, and I've come to realize that my happiness is intertwined with yours. I want to be there for you in every step of life. To share the good times and support you in the challenging ones. I understand if this is unexpected or if it takes time for you to process, but.. I just needed you to know that I like you more than words can express, and I hope that maybe, just maybe, you feel the same way."

"I love you, Jungwon."
