Jackson's POV:

We were at the Cullen household when the leader of the trio walked in and talked to Carlisle.

"What's he doing here?" I asked.

"He came to warn us about James," Carlisle asked.

"And we're supposed to trust Laurant to come here and willingly tell us about what his friend can do, without there being any consequences for it?" I asked.

"It's our only hope for us to defeat him," Carlisle answered.

"Yeah, because it's Bella that he's after and she's a part of your family," I say, sarcastically, before walking into the garage.

"How are you holding up?" Rosalie asked me.

"Their relationship is causing a lot of problems and I have a feeling that a lot of innocent people are going to be affected by their relationship because she's a blood singer and Edward is not sure that Bella is his mate," I answered.

"We told him not to get her involved," Rosalie stated.

"And it doesn't help that he made her curious about finding out about what we are," I added.

"She doesn't seem to care that it ruined your life," Rosalie pointed out.

"In a sense, they are perfect for each other. They don't care how they affect others. Now, I'm not sure if Angela is my imprint or if I could even give her a normal life after she graduates from college. And in this very moment, she's breaking her father's heart because there's a tracker that is going after her," I say.

At that moment, Edward and Bella walk in.

"I'm going to run Bella south," Edward announced.

"That's not going to work," I say.

"The tracker knows that you won't be apart from her," Carlisle said.

"Me and Jasper will do it," Alice said.

"Can you keep your thoughts to yourself?" Edward asked his sister.

"This is too much, I can't ask you all to do this," Bella denied and I started laughing, which caused them all to look at me.

"You knew you'd be a walking a blood bag for the guy that doesn't know whether or not you're his mate, but a psychotic tracker is chasing you and that's where you draw the line of it being to much?" I asked, but she looked down to the floor, instead of answering the question.

"If something happens to you, just know that you asked for it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an uncle to protect because his daughter chooses to be in a relationship with a vampire and doesn't care if that endangers other people," I say, before walking away.

————————

I walked into my uncle's house and I saw him sitting down on the armchair, heartbroken.

"Charlie, everything is going to be okay," I say.

"She told me the same thing that her mother told me when she left," Charlie muttered and that made me upset.

"She's heartbroken, she didn't mean it. Let her cool off and she'll come back," I reassured, hoping that I wasn't lying to my uncle right now.

After Charlie falls asleep in his room, I hear my phone ring. I pick it up and I see that it's Angela, which makes me nervous. I don't want to end up like Sam and Leah.

"Hey Angela," I greeted.

"I haven't heard from you in a couple of days, is everything okay?" She asked.

"I got sick and I couldn't come to the phone or have you get what I had," I lied.

"Are you better now?" Angela asked.

"Health-wise, I'm fine. Everything else is a mess," I answered.

"What do you mean? What happened?" She asked.

"Bella took off and she told my uncle the same thing that her mom told him when she was leaving him," I answered.

"I'm coming over," Angela told me and I was in shock.

"Angela, you don't have to. Enjoy your night," I tell her, knowing she's out with our friends.

"You need me more. I'll be there in a few minutes," Angela tells me, before hanging up the phone.

I waited by the door, waiting for her arrival. After a few minutes, I saw her pull up and park her car, while I walked up and greeted her. When we looked at each other, my whole world and I knew at that very moment, I had imprinted on her. When we got closer, I closed the gap and had her in a tight hug.

"What happened? Why did Bella leave?" Angela asked as we both walked into the house.

"It's a long story," I say, closing the door.

"You look a bit different," Angela pointed out.

"That's an even longer story. Let me check on Charlie, he finally went to sleep and I made sure that I'll be by the phone, in case Bella calls," I say, before going upstairs and making sure that my uncle is asleep.

After I was sure that Charlie was asleep, Angela and I sat down on the couch.

"Why do you look different?" Angela asked.

"Growing up, my mom's brother Billy Black told us stories about how our ancestors would shift to wolves to protect our tribe from our enemies, which happened to be the cold ones. For the very few of us,  not knowing how true those stories were," I started.

"What are you saying? And what do you mean cold ones?" Angela asked me.

"Wolf shifters are real. A few of us down at the reservation carry the gene. And cold ones are vampires, those are real as well," I answered.

"You said us? You are one of the shifters?" Angela asked.

"Yes, but that's not it. The day I shifted, I was attacked by a vampire, after a trio of vampires attacked and killed Charlie's friend, Waylon. A couple of days later, the lady that was with them attacked me and put the venom in me, in hopes that it would kill me, and I thought that I was. But a few days later, I would wake up at the Cullen household, and to our surprise, I woke up a hybrid," I answered, and then the room became quiet.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked me, quietly.

"I didn't want to harm you and I wanted to be sure that you were my imprint, even after I was sure that I wouldn't harm you," I answered, by this point, letting all the chips fall and would see what would happen.

"Imprinting?" She asked, in shock.

"It's a thing that our wolves do when we meet our other halves. In this case, us reuniting, after some family drama. The best way to describe it is that our whole world revolves around our imprint. We do and be anything for our imprint," I answered.

"This changes nothing when it comes to our relationship. It's just a lot of information and about to receive more," Angela said and I proceeded to hug.

"What happened to Bella?" Angela asked.

"Edward is a vampire. We went to play baseball with his family, the trio that killed Waylon and that attacked me were passing by, when we came across them. Long story short, Bella's blood caused a frenzy, which caused Bella to leave town with the tracker to look for her," I answered and she looked at me, in shock.

A couple of days later, Charlie gets a call from Renee saying that Bella is in the hospital.

After settling things with Sam, I went with Charlie to Arizona.
