Chapter 1: A penny for your quirk?

U.A . High school, the place to be a hero in training, the place to become a hero in the big leagues, the place where those that have quirks can follow their dreams. A few months had past since Izuku Midoriya entered the hero course due to receiving One for all from the pro hero All Might. This day was playing out like any other with Izuku continuing his data mining on all things hero based and information about different heroes as well as class mates with yesterday being a few different events and a trial test for quirks meaning he had already filled out quite a bit of info though unknown to him a pair of eyes kept on glancing at him every few seconds, a pair of yellow and black eyes to be precise, the eyes of fellow hero in training and fellow classmate Pinky, aka Mina Ashido the pink skinned acid quirk user, she and Izuku had slowly begun talking here and there over the past couple of months and Mina was slowly growing fond of her green haired classmate and wanted to make it her mission for this new semester to talk to Izuku more.

The homeroom teacher Aizawa then soon entered carrying a small bowl with paper in it and upon placing it on the desk making it known that all focus should be on him "Ok firstly, congratulations to everyone on how you performed yesterday, as your homeroom teacher I'm proud to see how much you've all improved and secondly today for some of you is going to be a another test of your abilities and quirks as the school is going to be hosting a televised tournament with the participants being drawn from a simple paper system, so best of luck to those that will be picked, in the meantime each of you is to come up and grab a piece of paper and keep it to yourself, at the end if your piece is blank remain seated and with those that have a number on their piece are to stand up" Each student nodded in understanding then one by one stood up to grab a piece of paper with a few chairs scraping back into place of those that were sitting back down.

Izuku stood slightly nervous, he knew he had improved over the past few months but being in a televised tournament was different, he slowly scanned the room of the others that were standing and going over his notes in his head one by one, those that were standing aside from Izuku himself were Katsuki Bakugo, Fumikage Tokoyami, Momo Yaoyorozu, Shoto Todorki, Kyoka Jiro, Denki Kaminari, Ochaco Uraraka, Mina Ashido, Eijiro Kirishima, Mezo Shoji and Koji Koda, each one with a unique quirk and a formidable fighter. As Izuku looked over the room at the standing classmates with his gaze going over Mina she caught his eyes and flashed a little smile making Izuku blush lightly but softly smile back at her and continued looking at the other standing classmates with battle plans now slowly forming in his head. After awhile the students that were in the tournament were told how long that had to prepare and that they must wear their training U.A. uniforms with the rules being any competitor that gets knocked out, surrenders, is immobilized or exits the arena loses.

Izuku was about ready to go through his hero book and start brainstorming when he was startled a bit by a sudden voice, he bit his tongue slightly to hide his scream "Hey there Midoriya, looks like you'll be coming up with some plans for the tournament huh?" Said the female voice, Izuku looked up to see Mina standing nearby, her expression cheerful as always "O-oh hey there A-Ashido.. and yes I am, a hero should know the ins and outs of any possible competitors b-besides there's a chance we could face each other in the tournament" he said as Mina's expression grew more excited since she could tell Izuku was getting excited from geeking out slightly "Yeah that's true isn't it? But I shouldn't keep you from going over your notes, so I'll see you at the tournament Midoriya and best of luck!" Mina replied with a smile as she skipped off feeling happy with herself that she could talk to Izuku once again.

Once she was gone Izuku quickly flicked through the pages till he got to the one about Mina "Her quirk is acid which she can use easily in long range if necessary and also as a defensive capability so even if I close the range there's multiple opportunities for her to use her acid to block and attack at the same time, I kind of hope I get to fight her in the tournament now but that remains to be seen" Izuku mumbled to himself while going over the notes of the other tournament classmates, Izuku then made the mistake of peering over the top of his book to see Bakugo staring at him "Deku, I don't give a damn if you fight pink curls or not.. you're mumbling still pisses me off got it!" He spat annoyed with Izuku nodding his head while replying with a slightly quivering tone "Y-Yes Kacchan.. it won't happen again.. a-anytime soon" Bakugo ignited his palm on his desk then slowly grabbed his bag and walked out with an annoyed sigh much to the relief of Izuku.
