(Kaveyani soldiers appear at the edges of the stage, on stage, the Marthalani farmers and Lilea are sleeping. The Kaveyans storm the stage, waking the farmers, who attempt to fight back, but are beaten down. Atuyo runs on stage on armour and fights the Kaveyans. Lilea is dragged outside.)
ATUYO:
Lilea! Have you seen my gentle husband,
Itolias, your friend of childhood days?
LILEA:
I have not seen him! What about our soldiers?
Where have they gone? Why might they be away?
(Atuyo thunders his spear on the ground, but no one shows up)
ATUYO:
No! That must mean all of them have fallen!
(To the soldiers)
You dirty little kaveyani rats!
You killed my husband, this you will pay for dearly,
You will pay with this and that and that!
(With every 'that', he kills a Kaveyan soldier. Behind him, a Kaveyan general lifts the god's spear and strikes him on the head. He falls. Atuyo and Lilea are captured, all the farmers are "killed ". They stay on stage as the Kaveyans drag Atuyo and Lilea away.)
