Pumpkin's Rein

Discoveries And Decisions Part 2

(Sorry this is in 2 parts!)

3rd Person POV:
"Have we really been here this long?" The moon has reached its full peak, reflecting the snow tigers colours all across the room, her fur glittering as she led in the window staring up into the darkness outside. Shadows cast on the wall, the silver beauty illuminating the shape of the oddly small ginger one. "Ugh! It's no use, nothing in here is useful, a waste of my time." Pumpkin had been resilient all day that she had missed something in the book, even a tiny piece of new information but nope, nothing. Vanilla tried everything to distract her and pull her away and call it a night but once Pumpkin had started something you couldn't make her stop. "Pumpkin please, you need sleep and i need to be on duty on time." Vanilla was trying to stay patient with her stubbornness but sleep deprivation was taking over her and she couldn't handle it. "But I need to know more!" She tossed the book into the air and slumped down in deafeat. Vanilla padded over to flop besides her and pull her into her chest. "We can find out more another day, it doesnt have to be today, we should both just be grateful to have found each other."
"But i'm doing this for both of us, not just me."
"Why? I'm not that bothered, now cmon, stop staring at me with those ocean eyes and let's hit the hay." Pumpkin obeyed and followed behind her, her tail dragging along the floor and her head lowered. "Where will i begin to sleep when i start my job, in Emerald's former room?" She was trying to change the subject, smart move. Pumpkin's eyes widened in shock, forgetting that it wasn't professional for them to be sleeping in the same room, some nights in the same bed, she wasn't ready for this just yet, how would she cope? "I want you to take her place as my second in command."
"Now you definitely need some sleep, you cant just decide on the spot like that silly."
"No i'm being serious, no one else can take it." Vanilla's jaw was practically on the floor and her eyes were practically bulging out her head. "Come again sorry."

With The Trio:
Why would there be a parade this early in the morning? What could the celebration be today? Sofi reluctantly padded quietly towards the window and took a sneak peak outside, she squinted her emerald green eyes, willing them to wake up. Wow! This isn't like any parade she'd seen before, the whole town was holding torches and chanting something inaudible. "MIDNIGHT! EMERALD! A PARADE!" They had all had to share one singular room last night, Sofi and Midnight taking the bunk bed whilst Emerald got cosy on the floor, she insisted. Midnight tossed his pillow at Sofi, "Sofi stop making things up." Emerald stretched her remaining wing and yawned, a huff of smoke filling the room. "Let me see this." Emerald had heard commotion going on outside for the past few minutes, but a parade at 7 in the morning? She had to investigate. Emerald gasped in bewilderment after one peep out the window. "Sugar cube what is it." This caught the muscular, sleek, black horses attention. They all crowded around the window. "What are they folks doing out there?" They had no idea what was happening, this town must've been peaceful for moons. "It's a riot, a rebellion."
"English please."
"I agree with Midnight for once." The dragon smacked her face, rolling her eyes, all she wanted to do was get to the end of her book but clearly that had to wait. "They're angry, do you know what striking is?" The other two looked at each other and shrugged. "No but what are they angry about." Sofi opened the window, slightly, and perked her ears up, using her huge ears to her advantage. "They're chanting find Emerald, see i told you they loved you!" Midnight shook his head at her and motioned for her to zip her mouth. "They dont wanna find her to have a wee dance party with her, they wanna find her to torture, demolish or ban her."
"Seriously! What is it with everyone kicking me out of their homes."
"No clue, all i know is if they don't find you soon, they're going to start twisting and turning all these here houses upside down. Hey, wheres sofi?"

Emerald's POV:
Trust crazy little husky girl to go running off in the middle of a sentence, none of us even noticed her disappear, dammit, sometimes i wished she had claws like mine that scraped across the floor when i ran. Me and Midnight checked out the window and saw a flash of barbie pink in amongst all the beige and brown and grey. She was bouncing in the opposite direction of the crowd. "THERE SHE IS!" The crowd also noticed her instantly. "Wait what do they want with Sofi, she's been nothing but a friend to them!"
"My guess is they all saw me follow her yesterday and they think she's hidden me. But where is she going??" Sofi had started bouncing even faster, determined to get somewhere. "Her bakery." Oh no, they've probably already ripped it to shreds, trying to find me, knowing Sofi her bakery is probably very vibrant, covered in sprinkles and pink and sparkly things. "EMERALD!" I ignored the shouts of protest as i leaped out the window, this would be so much easier if i could fly, i made the whole floor shake, well too late now, she saved me now i need to repay her. I caught up with her with ease, somehow i was still super speedy on ground. "SOFI!"
"HEY EMERALD! FANCY SEEING YOU HERE. WAIT? EMERALD? THEY'RE AFTER YOU!"
"NO SHIT." We ran side by side and i saw it, sticking out just as much as Sofi did, both of them did it without a care in the world. I could already tell though it wasn't good news. "NO! NOT MY BABY!" Sofi started screaming but she proceeded to run inside anyways and see more of the destruction. Everything had been shredded up and smeared with red devil horns. "HOW DARE THEY!" She stomped back outside and howled at the crowd, forcing them to stop. "Shes the spawn of satan too! Just like that dragon! Shes come to curse us!" Oh great, heavily religious creatures, i was about to lose it. "WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS!" She turned to a group of young looking stallions and mares. "Cocoa! Inky! Chestnut! I threw your joint birthday party a few days ago, dont you remember, all i've shown any of you is compassion and care and this is what you do?"I stepped beside her, glaring at all of them, accusingly. Midnight did an impressive jump over most of the crowd to stand beside us as well. "Y'all are calling Sofi a satan spawn yet look at you all here looking like you're serving him with your torches."
"She is the one who brought a dragon, but not just any dragon, one without a wing!" I stepped forward, already guessing what they'd been taught about us, "I understand you've all been bred to hate dragons because of the superstitions right? All because of one bad dragon betraying us all, there have been horses commiting crimes yet no one fears you, my lack of wings surely makes it easier to trust me if your scared of them coming down and swooping you up." I wince at the memory of what i had done a few days ago all because of jealousy. They all murmured amongst themselves. "But i will stand here and defend both of these two before you can even lay a claw on them. Even if it means you take me down."

Midnight's POV:
Damn. We'd only known this strange woman for a few hours and she was willing to kill herself, or well get killed for us, sweet but stupid. The crowd looked indecisive. "Sorcery! She is trying to get into our heads!" They all started screaming again, dumbasses really thought that Emerald was trying to hypnotise them. "Thats unicorns not dragons, duh!" Sofi chirped in and that did it for them. "ATTACK!"
"Now what?!" Emerald looked between both of us, "We run for now until i can think of something." We all nodded and made a run for it. Emerald didn't want to hurt them, surely that counted for something right? "How can i prove i'm not like the dragons in their stories."
"Give yourself in." Stupidest thing they've probably heard me say but i knew what i was doing. Emerald stayed speechless and Sofi started screaming, "WHAT HOW IS THAT GOING TO HELP?" I halted. "Just do it yall trust me, you have to trust me." I trusted my instinct. "I'm determined to prove myself, whatever it takes." Emerald halted and stood still, the whole crowd slowed down and grabbed the handcuffs out, like that was gonna do anything. "Wow that was easy!" Chestnut panted.
"Wait why was that so easy?" The sheriff chained her up and glared between me and Sofi. "You two have betrayed us." I nodded silently.
"Theoretically we didnt, you betrayed Emerald as our policy states, we respect all creatures, big and small, but apparently that doesn't count for her." Sheriff Tom looked gobsmacked. "The dragon gave herself in yall, i think shes made it plenty obvious shes not like other dragons." Sheriff Tom looked like he was about to erupt but Chestnut came up and whispered something. "Fine. But the second she shows a slight bit of danger she will be removed." Despite all these here creatures destroying Sofi's home she was offering them all cupcakes, where did she even get those from, and planning a party already! A masquerade ball to celebrate a newcomer. Even though some were still skeptical about Emerald they all agreed to arrive and give her a chance.
