-Rewind to the fight-

Emeralds POV:
I noticed the unicorns attention instantly focusing in on an individual, I look around desperately trying to see whom has angered her so much. I'd noticed the lost souls she'd stole had returned, maybe it was one of them? Everything was too dim in here, I was too far to help whoever was unfortunate enough to be targeted by the beast. Whoever this creature was, was extremely brave and resilient, charging at the unicorn, full speed with no fear or doubts coming from them, it was admirable really but they didn't stand a chance, they were asking to die. The unicorn rears back in shock at the impact. They've leaped onto her back in one stride, effortlessly, what a mighty jump that only a cat could make normally but I knew it wasn't Vanilla or Pumpkin. I feared for them. It was a red or pink coat, the lighting was playing tricks. I knew Sofi looked red in dimmer lightings and all I could do was hope, after all what had she done to upset this villain so much? The creature raked its claws all down the unicorns spine, blood dripping off its sleek coat, it reminded me of Midnight who was on the verge of collapsing from how much blood he was losing, the unicorn shook but they dug their claws in deep. It finally gripped onto this poor soul with its tail of fire. Scorching it's skin instantly, it wraps its tail around the attacker and brings its tail forwards to her face, they are still alive but the burns will become deadly soon enough. She does the unthinkable though. She swoops them up into her jaw and all I hear is cracking and sludge. I see green eyes and my heart drops, it is not Sofis emerald green though, it is my brother who has been swooped up in this beasts jaw. The beast bites down incredibly hard and the body falls to the floor. The unicorn smirks and moves on. I dodge and I run. All I can do is weep for what I have lost. I hear murmuring and suddenly my bodies on fire, I think the unicorns got me too but I feel something growing out my wing stump and suddenly I'm flying again.

-Present time-

Vanillas POV:
I'm glad to see that only two have died from this tragic battle as the stallion limps over to us with his crowd of grievers. He was the one to point out Rupert lying lifeless on the floor, I heard them all gasp in sync and they instantly wobbled over, Emerald led besides me, her face buried, weeping. The stylish pink skunk, the mysterious clydesdale and the sweetheart clydesdale and the optimistic husky all gathered around, whispering words of respect, each taking turns to press their nose to his scales before lowering their heads in shame, shame that they had failed a soldier, but they couldn't blame themselves. Pumpkin glared at me from across the room, clearly unsatisfied by the fact I was glued by her enemies side, it didn't matter who did what in here today, everyone's made mistakes and I saw Emerald for what she really is. A dragon too scared to disobey her mother, to disappoint everyone, someone who's determined to prove herself worthy because deep down she feels useless and hates herself but her cocky performance was enough to fool anyone. I could not hate her, I hated her mother for what she had turned her into but she had blossomed into a beautiful being. I flicked my tail, beckoning Pumpkin over, she needed to say her goodbyes, Rupert needed to be buried a lot sooner then Jack would've been, his guts being on display was certainly unappealing. She padded over to Sylver first, whispering her goodbyes and her sorries, she presses her nose to Sylvia, comforting her, Sylvia thanks her before turning back to her brother. Pumpkin then joins us, everyone parts for her except Emerald who is unaware of anything but Rupert right now. She presses her nose to his face and shakes her head in disapproval. "No soldier deserves such an ending, a noble warrior deserves a peaceful death, this is not peaceful, join the star walkers Rupert, we all thank you for your bravery." She glares at Emerald one last time before running off outside, no doubt to check her father was definitely dead and probably to send a few hateful words his way. The rest of the group departed slowly, giving their friend her space, even Sofi turned away, knowing no amount of positivity would cheer her partner up right now. She knew she could not offer many kind words and left me to it. I saw Cloud also follow Pumpkin a few moments later. My mother hated the King so she probably wanted to see his death for herself. It was baffling that Emerald was more affected then Sylvia over her brothers death even though I'd seen them interact once. I had a lot to learn.
