I push open the library doors and run outside as the sun sets like a summer picture. I stand in place for a few minutes, a bit mesmerized by how pretty it was. The clouds looked like they were painted onto the amber red sky as the sun was setting slowly behind the rotting trees, causing a shadow to fall.
I snap out of my trance and reach in my bag. "P/n baby! Come here, we have to go eat dinner." I babble, feeling around in my bag for a while. "..P/n?"
I start to panic and frantically look through my bag. Palismen abduction has been on the rise and I can't afford to lose him. "Come on this isn't funny!" I yell frantically. "...oh Titan."
I look back at the library and realize he's probably gotten lost inside. I walk up the steps and burst through the door to see The Golden Guard... holding him.
"Goldie?..." I stammer. He looks over at me, eyes wide as his grip tightens. "Hey, be careful!" I scold as I dash over to his side.
He immediately lets go, a small gasp slips from his lips and he looks away.
P/n hops into my arms, chirping frantically. "I know, I know!" I say before bringing P/n up to my face and rub against him. "It's ok baby."P/n chuffs in response and I slip him into my bag before looking at the Golden Guard. "What were you doing with him?" I ask, my tone serious with a glare plastered across my face.
"Uh..." He stutters, scratching his neck. "I didn't know what to do, I don't do palismen but...you were gone and I thought...I would keep him...safe for you."
"Safe?" I reply, my eyes shift. "... You'd keep him safe?"
He hesitates but darts his eyes at me before nodding.
"...um..thanks I guess?" I say, not sure how to respond.
"Yeah..." He replies. "Y..you should get going now!.. uh- not that I'm worried, just that it's getting dark and-"
He stops and ponders for a minute. "And I'd have to give you a fine for flying late at night!" He says with confidence as he crosses his arms and raises his chin.
"Oh, nO! SoOoOo sCaRy!" I tease. "That's not a real fine."
His eyes dart towards me as I called his bluff. "Oh..um." His brows furrow as his face turns red. "S-SO WHAT I CAN MAKE IT REAL!"
I chuckle and knock him in the shoulder. "Ha ha! You've got the mentality of a Goldfish." I joke.
He looks away and rubs his shoulder. "...W-well, I'm not one!" He crosses his arms and raises his nose in the air.
"What ever you say Goldfish!" I continue to tease. "Buuuut I guess you're right about the fact I should get going."
"Bye Goldfish!" I yell as I wave frantically.
He waves back slowly, walking away after a while.
I head outside and mount my staff. We lift up and race home as the sizzling sun sets, the wind brushing through my hair. "COME ON P/N!" I yell as I laugh, adrenaline rushing through me as we soar home.
When we land- sorry crash into the ground in front of the house, my dad is standing on the porch. "Hello Y/n." He says, voice stern.
I stammer up off the ground and brush myself off. "OH.....HEYYYYY DADDDDD....." I chuckle nervously.
"You're late." He says. "By....3 hours."
3 hours. Damn it, how long did I read with that guy!? I don't even like reading!
"Sorry..." I scratch the back of my neck as I lean against my staff.
"Well you're on dish duty now." He scoffs.
