Hunter Pov-

I finished my most recent mission.

"Who knew Gaulderstones were so easy to find." I chuckle.

I sigh and brush my hand against my forehead as I lift my mask.

When's the last time I've cleaned this thing?

I shrug and pull my mask back over my face. I place the Gaulderstone into the bag Uncle told me to and pull out my staff. I mount up and fly off into the distance. As I fly I wonder about Y/n.

I don't understand how they... tolerate me, HOW I TOLERATE HER! She's so annoying, but a good kind of annoying? Like her voice. It's so.....Voice? Idk, what am I even doing thinking about that kid when I'm trying to finish up a mission. They can fall off a cliff for all I care, it's not like we're friends...

Anyways I continue to the Castle and land outside, kicking up dirt as my feet drag across the ground. I hear a sharp cough and look down. "Hey, watch where your kicking up dust!" Kikimora shrieks.

"Yeah yeah, sure." I cross my arms.

"The Emperor wants to see you Golden Guard." She glares.

"Good, a excuse to be away from you." I chuckle.

She lets out a huff as I stride past, ready to deliver what Uncle wanted. He'll be so proud of me, a successful mission is his top priority. I enter the Emperor's Chambers and bow down to Uncle. "Hunter." He says.

I stand up. "Uncle, I got the Gaulderstone!" I say with enthusiasm. "Intact and safe."

"Well done Hunter." He says, walking towards me. "Take your mask off."

I do as he says and take off my mask. He rests his hand on my shoulder and I give him a grin. "I'm very proud of you Hunter." He says.

My smile grows and he chuckles. "Alright Hunter, off you go."

"Yes Uncle!" I reply.

I put my mask back on and leave as Uncle requested. I have no more missions scheduled so I might as well go to the library.

(Timeskip because I'm lazy)

I walk into the library, pushing open the heavy door. I nod to the librarian, she gave a smile back. I continued to walk around the library and skimmed through the history section. My eyes stick to a book and grab it, looking at the cover before feeling a tap on my shoulder. "Hm?" I turn around.

"Hey Goldfish." I see Y/n smile as she stands behind me.

"O-oh..Y/n." I stammer. "Wait, don't you have school today?"

"Whatttttt!?" She looks away. "Me? Have school? Noooooooo!"

"You're skipping aren't you." I say.

"... yeah." She sighs.

I facepalm as she lets out a nervous chuckle. "You can't just skip school."

"Technically I can, but I shouldn't." She grins.

"Don't get all technical with me!" I shout. "It's still-"

"It'S sTiLl- yeah yeah, I know." She rolls her eyes. "I wanted to hang out with you today though."

I feel my face go slightly warm as my eyes widen and ears twitch. My body tenses and I drop the book in my hand. I realize how strong of a reaction that was and crouch down to grab my book. "T-that's still not a good excuse."

"It looks like one to me." She chuckles as she looks down at me.

"Shut up." I grumble before standing back up.
