Today, we just lost the fight

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The battle between good and evil will be decided today," Sensei remarked this while he and the other ninjas, with the exception of Lloyd and Misako, sat in the sand, looking out at the sea. Kai and (Y/N) are thinking about Nya, Jay is laying on the sand, Cole is gazing at the sky, and Zane is simply staring at the sea.

"And we can't even get to the fight, much less get off this island." Kai muttered as he tossed a rock into the river. "Ah, ain't that much bad luck," (Y/N) sighed. "Perhaps it's best to think of our friends as we remember them in our hearts, not as they are now," Zane instructed.

Dr. Julien assisted Lloyd in walking towards his friends, "But I don't remember my father any other way." Misako comforts him by rubbing his back. "Your father loved you. It was the evil of the great devourer that corrupted him." She tells her son. "Sensei, I don't understand," Kai began to throw another stone into the sea. "The prophecy said the would defeat the Dark Lord. Why didn't we win?"

Sensei Wu hesitates, "I...don't know.." "Don't know?! Your Sensei! You always know. You have a long white bread!" Jay yelled in surprise. "There must be some message to learn. A lesson, a word of wisdom. Just a word? Something." Kai desperately said. "For once, I'm afraid there is nothing to learn. Only that evil has won," Wu added.

"If Sensei doesn't have a lesson, then I do. I used to be nothing but trouble, but then I met you guys. You took me in. Shown me the importance of being brave, the importance of being strong. And most importantly, being good." Lloyd approached Julien and walked alongside him, groaning with each step he took. "When this battle first began, when the First Spinjitzu Master fought the Overlord and his back was up against the wall and he knew it was all over, did he quit? No. He found a way to keep the fight going. He passed his Elemental Powers to us. Of all people, a bunch of kids. But there must have been a reason he chosen us. I'd like to think it's because he knew we'd never back down, we'd never give up. We've learned the ancient ways of the ninja. And Ninja never quits." Lloyd finished in a single breath.

"Lloyd's right guys. If that means we have to swim the sea to get off this island, then so be it." Kai began marching into the sea. "The entire ocean? But I didn't bring my floaties," Jay cried. "Well, if you got a better plan..."

"I don't, but he may." Zane pointed to his falcon. "Ooh, the falcon. He must have found something," Dr. Julien said. "Hell yeah! Team Falcon all the way!" (Y/N) cheered.

On Kai's fire mech, the gang ascended again up the mountain to the temple of light. When they arrived at the temple of light, Misako seized a scroll and yanked it out. "You brought us back to the Temple of Light? I do not understand. We've already been here," Zane communicated with his falcon companion.

"This location, I've seen this before. I just never understood it." Misako began scanning the scroll with the Temple's plans.

Kai grumbled as he snipped a spiderweb, revealing a hole. "I think I found something. It's just like the map." Kai announced as he inserted his Elemental Blade into the hole. "There's one more over there," Sensei Wu pointed. "And here," Julien added. "And over here." Misako came in after (Y/N) noticed the fifth and last pillar, "And this one too?"

Nothing happened as the boys inserted their blades into the key slots. "Isn't there something supposed to happen?" Jay questioned, puzzled. (Y/N) examines their pillar, "Hmm," and blows some wind into it to force it down.
