As Tiffany walked out of Orin's sight, she breathed a sigh of relief. She struggled to keep her composure in there, which was unusual for her. Normally she can keep her cool in situations, but weirdly, Orin reminded her of a more tame version of Chucky when they first got together and she couldn't help but feel a little nervous around him.
Suddenly she heard a voice "H-hey! Tiffany!" She saw Seymour running towards her! "There you are! I was hoping I would catch you!" He was carrying something.
"Oh, Seymour!" She chuckled nervously, trying not to show that she was a bit disoriented. "What are you doing?"
"I wanted to give you something," he held out what was in his hands. "It's plant food. You said earlier that the first flower you got for your wife was a little weak so I wanted to give you this for it. Hopefully it will help it perk up a bit and make up for the fact that the plant wasn't in the best shape!"
It was clear to Tiffany that Seymour felt bad about the quality of the plant he sold her so she happily accepted. "That's so sweet of you!" she said as she took the plant food from him.
He blushed a little, and then started speaking again. "There's directions on the back of the package, but I actually do something a bit different that I find works a bit better, what I do is..."
As Seymour started to explain, Tiffany felt herself getting lost in her own thoughts. She kept nodding and smiling at him, but it wasn't convincing. He noticed she wasn't really paying attention to him, something he had gotten used to over years of rambling about plants to people who weren't nearly as interested as him, but he didn't think that Tiffany would be the type to do that to him, so he figured something must be wrong. He stopped mid-sentence before deciding to ask. "Miss Tiffany? Is everything okay? You seem a little spacey."
Tiffany snapped back into focus, "oh, uh, y-yeah I'm good..."
Seymour wasn't convinced. "Are you sure?" He noticed her glance back at the dentist office. "Ohhh..."
"W-what?"
"Did you go to the dentist's office by chance?" he asked with concern.
She was a bit surprised Seymour caught on to where she glanced, considering he seemed to be a bit of an airhead at times. "Yes, I did... Why?"
"Um... just... be careful over there. He hasn't really gotten the best ratings from people and... my poor Audrey..." he sighed.
"Your wife?"
Seymour nodded. "Yes, she used to be his girlfriend and he wasn't exactly the nicest to her," he said with a hint of disgust.
"That's not surprising," she scoffed.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well, I was bringing the bouquet out to my car and I heard screaming coming from somewhere, and it reminded me of-" she stopped suddenly, being careful not to mention Chucky.
"Of what-?"
"Oh, just... a horror movie, you know?" Nice save. She thought to herself. "And because of that, I just wanted to make sure everything was alright, so I followed the sound of the screams and found myself in that building. And let me tell you, that man is no gentleman. He pulled me into his chair and tried to make me stay!" With those words, her cheeks turned slightly pink. "But I told him 'you can't treat a lady like that!' and so I left!"
Seymour started to feel bad. Even though it wasn't his fault, he still felt a bit guilt. "Oh god, I should have warned you about him..."
"Oh, Seymour, why are you so upset? It's not your fault," Tiff said as reassuringly as she could.
"I know it's just... Audrey was treated so terribly by him, I'd hate to see him treat any other girls like that... D-did he try to put up a fight when you walked out?"
"Hmm... maybe a little," she giggled as Seymour's eyes widened. "But don't worry about me, I can handle a silly man like that."
"I don't know if I'd call him 'silly'... why, I'd call him... a... well, a not so nice word!"
"Well, I'm sure most people would but when you handle guys like that the right way, they're not so scary."
"How did you handle him...?
"Oh, don't worry about it," she chuckled and brushed her hair out of her face.
"I-if you say so... Hey, wait- what's that on your hand? Is that-"
She looked at her hand in confusion before quickly realizing she had a bit of blood on it from her nail file. Shit.
"Oh this?" she laughed nervously as she visibly examined her hand. "Y-yeah it's just a little blood, it's fine-"
"A-are you sure?? I'll go get Audrey to come look at it for you, s-she's better with that kind of stuff than I am-" Seymour starts to hurry into the flower shop to go get Audrey but Tiffany put a hand on his shoulder and stopped him.
"Seymour, a little blood isn't going to hurt me. Don't worry Audrey with something so trivial, alright? I'll be okay."
"Where did it even come from? Did he cut you or stick you with the drill or something??"
"O-oh, I'm not sure, I hadn't even noticed if he did, I'll have Nica look at it for me when I'm back home," she lied.
Seymour was a bit confused on how she didn't notice if she had been hurt but he was more just concerned for her well-being to question it. Despite it being a small amount of blood, ever since the whole ordeal with Audrey II, he had been so afraid of people he knew getting hurt in anyway.
"Would you look at the time?" Tiffany said quickly. "I think it's best I get home before Nica worries about me. She doesn't like it when I'm gone for too long. Plus, I have to give her those gorgeous flowers!"
He smiled a bit when Tiff complimented the flowers and calmed down a little bit. "O-okay, you're probably right, just be careful on the way back, alright?"
"Of course," she replied reassuringly. She made her way to the drivers side door of the car. "Take care," she said, waving goodbye at Seymour.
He awkwardly waved back and headed back to the flower shop, glancing back at the car a few times before finally keeping his eyes forward on the short walk back.
As Tiff got settled in the car, she set down the plant food Seymour had given her and quickly wiped the blood off of her hand onto the inside of the red bolero she was wearing over her dress and sighed. She took one last glance at the dentist office and mumbled, "guess I have a certain type in men."
(Chucky, who had snuck back into the backseat of her car, heard her and was a little confused. He wondered what on earth that meant because he was completely unaware of her encounter with Orin and was positive that she was NOT talking about that nerd, Seymour.)
Tiffany started up the car, and started on her way back home, hoping that when she got back to Nica, the whole ordeal would magically disappear from her mind.
