2.38 PM

Eloise's hand was clasped tightly around Bucky's, her eyes shut tightly.

"Open your eyes, you'll miss all the fun!" Bucky laughed.
"I hate this. I hate it, I hate it, I hate you!" Eloise whined, her eyes still closed.

"You don't have to look ahead, just look at me" Bucky held her hand to his chest, trying not to laugh but failing miserably.

"Don't laugh!" She whined again, and finally opened her eyes to look at him.

He was wearing that stupid grin, his hair a bit tousled from the wind and his shirt was dancing in the breeze.

"If we die, I'll kill you" She whispered sternly.

But Bucky just smiled. "It's fun, I promise you'll like it!" He tried to sound reassuring, but his laughter broke through.

Eloise's face turned into a frown, and she ripped her hand from his. In a dramatic attempt to move away from him, she realized there was no space to do so, and was forced to follow through by only twisting her upper body and crossing her arms. She had already chosen anger, she had to see it through.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Come here, dummy!" Bucky laughed, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her closer.

The roller coaster was slowly inching to the top, and Eloise couldn't understand how on earth Bucky had been able to convince her to get on. The whole thing sounded like it was about to come apart beneath them at any second. The loud creaking of bolts and tracks was a very persistent reminder.

Suddenly they came to a stop. Eloise peered down at the ground. It hadn't really looked that high up when they were watching from the ground earlier. She could see Peggy and Steve down there. They looked like ants.

"Bucky?" She whispered, almost as if speaking anything above a whisper would be sure to catapult them forward.

"Eloise?" He whispered back, his voice still carrying a hint of amusement.

"Do we just si–" She began, but her voice was knocked out of her.

The entire cart titled forward and fell down the tracks.

The sensation in her body for the first split second as they were in free fall felt oddly familiar. The rush of tingling from head to toe. But then she was falling. And falling. And falling quickly. Bucky's voice roared with joy, his hands held up high as they plummeted closer to the ground.

Eloise let out a loud shriek, holding onto the bars like her life depended on it, her hair blowing in every direction. When they reached the bottom of the tracks she was jolted back into her seat, and realized that she had made it. She was still alive.

Nothing came to her. No words. No feeling. She was just gaping and staring into the void as Bucky was laughing.

"See! It was fun right?!" He laughed, wrapping his arms around her.

"I'm going to kill you. I'm going to actually kill you." Eloise turned to him, her eyes filled with rage.

Bucky grabbed hold of her wrists, and pressed her against his chest, placing kiss after kiss all over her face until she was just a restricted ball of giggles.

5.24 PM

The fair was slowing down. Eloise had been on two more roller coasters since her first one. Bucky had insisted she just needed to ride a few more times to really get over her fear and feel the fun. After all, the third time's a charm!
