After I flutter my eyes open the next morning, I push the duvet off of me and lie there feeling defeated. It's a never ending saga. Going to bed in warm pajamas and waking up in a ball of fire the next morning. I can't seem to find a solution for this.
I turn my head to the side and catch a glimpse of a sleeping Blake. I grab my phone from my nightstand and check the time. 09:12 a.m. That's considerably early if you ask me. Especially if it's still gloomy outside. I curl up and close my eyes again. A few more minutes of sleep hasn't hurt anyone in my world.
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
''...your phone off!''
I wake up with a jolt from Blake flutter kicking my legs.
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
I grunt at the sharp sound of my ongoing notifications and reach for my phone on my nightstand, knocking over a bottle of water in the process. Who could this be? Everyone I know is in my house. Who would text me this urgently? I squint at the dark screen when I receive a signal from my brain to turn up the brightness.
After I read the messages I force myself out of the bed, storm up to the door and pull it firmly open.
''Good morning,'' Lemon sings happily into my face. Her feet were an inch away from the threshold. She was holding her phone in her hands like she was about to text. Again. I spare her a disdainful look and cross my arms.
''You really think you're funny, don't you?''
She feigns oblivion as she thinks of an answer. Instead of awaiting her witty response, I unlock my phone and start reading her messages out loud.
Limoncello
Good morning Maave
I apologize
I meant maaeve
*Mavea
*Naeve
*Niveau
Never mind
Can I come in?
...
I think I can hear you lol
I can hear Blake too
Please open the door for me
:)
I lock the screen and lower my phone so her face occupies my view again.
''A bit excessive don't you think?'' I argue. She shrugs and points lamely past me.
''Fine,'' I mumble. I step aside and let her in.
She plants herself in my chair while I climb back into bed. I take a glance at Blake whilst sorting the duvet on my side. She seems to be asleep again. I unlock my phone and decide to reply to Lemon's messages. I sneakily cast a glance at Lemon who appears to be observing my room.
Ding
She snatches her phone from the desk and starts reading.
Maeve (potential sister-in-law)
Why are you here?
A scoff fills up the silence in the room, but I refuse to face her. I simply wait for a reply.
You make it sound like we didn't have a heart to heart last night. I'm here because last time I checked we were going shopping today.
This time I'm the one making an unpleasant sound.
