Lemon ran to her parents nonetheless but this time to tell them we were heading to hospital. Skylar suggested he drive us when he heard the commotion. The four of us rushed to Skylar's car and drove off in a hurry. I was asked a lot of questions but I shut them down all at once, saying I don't know anything else beside the location.
Blake called shotgun while Lemon and I occupied the backseat. She'd placed her hand on mine in attempt to comfort me as I was staring out of the window. I was searching for an explanation in my head. Did she injure herself? Did someone do harm to her? I can't come up with something that fits her. She's always careful and usually has good health. Maybe I don't want to accept something's happened to her.
The hospital comes into view when we round the corner. Skylar exhilarates the last minute and drives straight to the garage. We get out and speed to the service desk.
''Madeline Cainam, she was rushed in here not long ago,'' I state, hoping it was sufficient information. The lady behind the desk nods and looks up on her computer. I'm tapping my fingers as I impatiently wait for the room number.
Blake hooks her arm with mine and drags me away to the right direction after we received it from her. Lemon and Skylar follow behind. We turn a corner and immediately spot my parents, Gio and Kai. I run up to my parents first and hug them both at the same.
''Oh God, we came as fast as we could,'' I pull back and glance between them, ''What happened? Tell me.''
''Calm down, everything's fine now. Here, take a seat, you're shaking.'' Mom guides me to a seat and plops me down.
''What happened then?'' Blake asks the same question since nobody's answered yet.
''At first we didn't know. We were just having dinner and suddenly she starting hyperventilating. When we ran to her side she'd already fainted,'' Kai explains, swaying back and forth with Lemon in his arms. His bloodshot swollen eyes stand out on his pale face. '
'Was it a panic attack?'' Lemon asks hesitantly, looking up at him. They all firmly nod, which brought me comfort. I exhale deeply and hold my heart. I was expecting the worst so this relieved me a bit.
''I would have told you she was fine but you didn't let me. You hung up so quickly.'' Kai jokes. He's right. Gio takes a seat next to me and leans into me.
''It was scary seeing her like that,'' he mumbles, staring into distance. I wrap my arm around him and pull him in closer.
''I can imagine it was a bit frightening. But you heard mom, right? She's fine now,'' I whisper, pecking his crown.
''Will it happen again? Please so no,'' he begged, squeezing his eyes shut and crossing his fingers.
''We don't know, kid. But I'm sure the doctor will tell us what she should do so it doesn't happen as quickly anymore,'' dad explains, taking steps toward us. He offers his hand to him. ''Want to go grab hot chocolate for everyone? When we're back I'm sure the doctor will be here informing us.'' Gio gives a small nod and slips away from under my arm. We all follow their backs until they're out of sight.
''Mom?'' I ask when a sudden question rises in my head. She was leaning against the wall sideways and looking at nothing in particular. ''Hmm? Yes?'' she asks, turning around to face me.
''What were you talking about during dinner? Something out of the ordinary?'' I ask. Blake sits down to my right and focuses her attention on mom too, who had a puzzled look on her face and puckered her lips.
''I don't think so. Kai?'' she glances at him, signaling him to answer too. Kai, who was still swaying with Lemon, also took his time thinking. I roll my eyes at their cluelessness.
