"Yeah, we found this."
Thomas, Zart, Minho, Winston and Fry stop in front of (Y/n) and Newt in Homestead. Thomas handed Newt a metal cylinder, black ink was dried around it. (Y/n) looked over his shoulder, his chest just hovering over Newt's skin. The number seven was on a small screen, written in red.
"It was inside a Griever."
Newt handed the cylinder to (Y/n), his hands grazing over it. "These are the same letters we get on our supplies," Newt moved his attention back to Thomas.
"Whoever put us here obviously made the Grievers. And this is the first real clue, the first anything that you've found in over three years, right Minho?"
Thomas turned his body to Minho who nodded. (Y/n) leaned against a post, still examining the cylinder. 'WCKED', huh? The Keeper thought, turning the until the letters were shown again.
"Newt, we gotta go back out there. Who knows where this might lead us?"
Newt glanced at Gally, the two sharing a moment. The butcher fiddled with the wiring.
"You see what he's doing, right? First, he breaks our rules, and then he tries to convince us to abandon them totally. The rules are the only thing that have ever held us together! Why the hell are now questioning that?"
Gally snapped his head to (Y/n). The Houser raising an eyebrow as the builder faced him.
"(Y/n), you established these rules with Alby because we lost a lot of boys to fear, to darkness. You lost a lot of boys—"
(Y/n) pushed himself off from the post, his grip around the cylinder tight. Anger flashed in his eyes, he walked and stopped very close to Gally's face.
"Don't you dare use their bloody names to win this argument. They didn't choose to die, death claimed them. Do not disrespect that, otherwise I'll make sure Death has your name on her list."
Gally dipped his head as (Y/n) stared him down. The butcher scoffed at the boy, turning away with an eye roll. Newt darted his eyes between the two Keepers. (Y/n) held every death close to his heart. It's what made it heavy with responsibility. To insult that, is practically poking a bear and expecting it not to hurt you.
Newt darted his eyes back to Gally who spoke after a moment, "this shank needs to be punished."
(Y/n) passed the cylinder to Minho. Newt glazed his eyes over and straighten his posture, "you're right. Thomas broke the rules. One night in the pit with no food."
"Oh come on, Newt! One night in the pit- you think that's going to stop him from going into the Maze?" Gally exclaimed.
"No. And we can't have non-runners running in the Maze whenever they feel like it. So let's just make this official, starting from tomorrow, you're a Runner."
