The Exchange Student

     After school Valetin and I end up going to the store to pick up more things we would need for the poster Evangeline had practice that afternoon so we would have enough time to have this poster ready. We headed over to my home and my host mom had some dinner ready for us so we ate with my host family. They liked Valetin so I'm sure they'd like Evangeline too. We had dinner and then Valetin and I helped out to clean the kitchen and table. When we finished cleaning I lead Valetin up to my room so we could get started on the poster, as I'm taking the supplies out Valetin comes across one of the pictures of me and Evangeline when he flips to show me it he says "you guys are cute together it's like if you'd known each other for a long time." His words hit me because he wasn't wrong every time I was with her I felt a comfort and I could be myself.

   We started working on the poster and then my host mom came in to see how we were doing. She stayed in the room for a bit helping us out with it. I could see that by her just staring at the photos of Evangeline and I liked her already. After an hour of working on the poster we finished it, I loved how it turned out and I'm sure Evangeline would say yes. Before Valetin had to leave to pick up Evangeline and head home we talked about how I would ask her tomorrow at the game. I told him my host parents would be there so I'd make them take the poster with them Valetin said he'd plan the rest.

  After Valetin left I put on my soccer gear and packed my soccer bag up and asked my host parents if it was okay if I went to the park alone they agreed. As I was in the park putting my soccer shoes on I started thinking about how tomorrow will go. I was a bit nervous she'd say no to me but I doubt she would. I mean Evangeline and I were really close and there was just an instant click when we first met. I stopped thinking about it for a while and practiced on my soccer skills since tomorrow was also a big day. It would be the first time I played. Soccer had always been my passion which is mostly why I became an Exchange student because I knew I would have more opportunities while doing this program.

   I get home from practicing and realize my host parents are asleep so I try not to make much noise as I get into the shower. When I get out of the shower I have a message from Evangeline I get dressed and I text her back. I do my night routine and get into my bed. It's 8:30 by the time I'm in bed. I text Evangeline for a couple minutes before asking her to call me because I'm a bit tired of typing. As I get her call I tend to smile. I pick up the phone to her saying "Hi" we start talking about our day and tell each other everything that happened today. After an hour of calling I realized she fell asleep. I stay on the call.

   Before I head to sleep I post the picture where Evangeline and I are matching in our outfits. I tagged her of course. After a couple minutes of the story being uploaded I start getting replies from people back in Italy asking if she was my girlfriend. I didn't feel like answering them tonight. Evangeline had been asleep for about an hour now and I'm still on call with her. I felt bad hanging up on her.

  I start thinking about if I do have feelings for Evangeline or am I just happy to have her as a friend I mean back in Italy I didn't find any girls attractive most for the part most girls wanted me but I felt like I didn't need a relationship my main goal was has always been to focus on soccer but Evangeline was different I felt a good connection she didn't judge my broken English that's when I realized she did the smallest things and that's what I liked about her the girls back in Italy would try so hard for my attention. After some thinking I finally head to bed with Evangeline still being on the call.
