"Be careful." I say to her chuckling as she squeals, "It's ok." I tease watching her frozen state, a fistfull of her green dress scrunched in her hands with one leg up.
"What is it?" she questions with that squeaky sultry voice, afraid to move another inch, eyes deadpanned on me impatiently waiting for me to say something that could put her ease to rest.
Calmly walking to her with my eyes to the ground, cupping the toad around my small hands to grant it another life from being crushed. Slimy fat body climbing into my palms with its webbed feet.
"You almost crushed this guy." I whispered bringing the dark green amphibian to her view.
"Eww, get that away." She shrieks shying away in disgust.
"It's ok, it's a toad, they are harmless." I explain, hoping my tone would sell.
Body language still unsure but bravely coming in closer to a safer position behind me, keeping her face distant in case it decides to lunge forwards. "A frog?"
"No," I chuckled, "A toad."
"But that's a frog?" she retorts raising a clean cut brow.
"Yes but see how big, blubbery and bumpy this is? frogs are much smaller." The amphibion croaks strecthing it's throat and she ducks behind me. "No, they are harmless, no teeth. In fact some people keep them as pets." I assure slightly moving
Dough orbs peeking through the open spaces of her small slender fingers, so cute.
"They do?"
"Trust me." I smile, I watch a soft breath release from her chest and I could see the armor of bravery shield.
Small hands coming together, "Alright." she huffs, breathing out the fear. "Give it to me."
Shocked by her sudden change of heart, "You want to hold it?"
"Yes." she smiles, fingers slightly tremble. "I trust you."
Softly turning to her to place my hand a top of hers. The toad following the rhythm of our body language, gently it lifts a leg toward her. A slight tremor in her breath, "Relax, just relax. I'm here."
The tremors suddenly stopped despite the cold amphibian in our hands, there was a sudden warmth in her body and it started at the surface of her palm. My brows fuse in question, "Hey you o-"
As I peered up I saw that her eyes were on me, glossed and soft twinkling with stars on the corners.
"Are you alright?" I questioned feeling her skin burning up.
"Mhmm." she smiles nodding her head, "Now I am."
"How do you feel?" I raised a brow.
"Uh, good, why?"
I say nothing, creeping a smile as I back away. Using my eyes to glide down to her hands. Confused expression at first until she glanced down to the toad resting gently on her palms. "Nasir" she whispers joyfully keeping her voice to a minimum as to not startle the creature, eyes beaming with accomplishment. "I'm doing it!"
Raising my arms in surrender, "I knew you could."
A well done expression on my face mentally giving myself a pat on the back watching her twirl around lovingly with the Toad, displaying that time stopping smile. Transfixed by the heavenly aura she emanates just by existing, Green thin strap gown blowing backwards from the soft whistling wind, a contrast of colors from a light beige middle to the rest a darkening green, elegance and royal until I spot the dirt stains on the chest -- when she ran up to hug me.
