Chapter 9: The past.

(A/N author here. This chapter is going to about Barnaby's past.)

Barnaby opened the door entering the bed room with many beds some messy than others. Barnaby set his small case down on his bed. His case only contained some clothes and one or two toys.

"Alright Barnaby there is a lot of kids here your age so don't be afraid to make some friends." The adoptive worker said before leaving the room. Barnaby looked out the window seeing all the other children playing on the playground. Barnaby looked around the room a bit before leaving he entered the small library next there was a lot of books for a small room.

"Oh, but my love how can I?" A voice came behind one of the bookshelves. Barnaby slowly looked around seeing a girl who is 5 just like him. She have her back facing Barnaby the girl turn around was about to say something until she saw Barnaby.

"Oh, hi! I'm Sally what's you name?" Sally said running to Barnaby. Barnaby was taken back a bit but after a few seconds Barnaby spoke.

"b-Barnaby....my name is Barnaby." Barnaby said backing up a bit. "What are you doing...?" He asked.

"Why I'm acting." Sally said.

"Acting...?" Barnaby asked tilting his head.

"Yes acting. See I was born here to be a star and be the best actress in the whole wide universe!" Sally explained. Even though Sally was here with Barnaby she was determined and bright.

"Oh,...so you want to be a actress when you grow up?" Barnaby asked.

"Yep! See I knew that I can't just be here and not show how bright I can be. I you I may see have some talent in you..." Sally said pointing at Barnaby.

"But...I never done acting..." Barnaby said.

"So? You may not have what it takes to be a actor but you have stage talent and I can see it." Sally said. Barnaby smiled softly as he listened to Sally.

For the next two year Barnaby and Sally stayed at the adoption center until one day.

"Barnaby! Barnaby!" Sally said running into the bedroom holding something.

"Sally? What is it?" Barnaby asked.

"Look!" Sally said showing Barnaby a adopted paper. "I'm getting a home! Not only that I'm also going to have two moms!" Sally said. Barnaby looked at the paper with excitement but in the inside he was heartbroken having to see his best friend leave but he didn't say it. After saying their goodbyes and watching the car drive away with Sally in it. Barnaby hide in the library where they first met and sobs watching his friend leave.

A month have past and Barnaby watched as others kids get adopted. He thought that maybe it was how he looked he was the only kid there who was plus-sized. Barnaby knew he didn't want to say here anymore he planned his escape. As no one was looking he escaped through a window going into the busy streets.

Of course after about a hour Barnaby was already lost in a alley way he then opened a door that opened up to a kitchen a smell hit his nose it smells amazing. He knew he shouldn't be here but he was hungry. He looked to see a basket a fruit he walked over but slipped over water spanning his ankle. He heard a door open he looked to the side seeing a woman.

"Oh, my dear what are you doing here?" The woman asked walking to Barnaby. "Oh, my your ankle are you ok sweetheart?" She added. Barnaby couldn't hold in his tears and started crying. After helping Barnaby get up the woman handed Barnaby a meal.

"Here you go sweetheart." The woman said.

As Barnaby eats the meal he explains who he was to the woman and that woman soon to be his mom was Ms. Beagle.
