ADRENALINE PULSED THROUGH Keeli's veins, her attention jumping back and forth between the Marines and Luffy who had just called that Marine 'Grandpa'.
What in the world—?
And then everything happened really fast. The Marines fired their cannon again, the ball hitting the water just barely missing the ship. Then another one, and that one was heading straight for the deck. "Hit the deck!" Usopp shouted, and they threw themselves on the floor, the cannonball hitting the ship's railing, wood splinters flying through the air. With her heart pounding in her ears, Keeli got back to her feet.
"Everybody OK?" Luffy asked.
"I think so," Nami said.
"Yeah," Keeli said.
"No," Usopp exclaimed. "Not OK. Not even close to OK."
Luffy ignored him and looked at their own cannon before pointing his finger at the Marines and shouting, "Usopp! Fire back at them!"
"Or how about we sail away as fast as we can?" Usopp countered.
Nami approvingly raised her eyebrows. And Keeli had to admit that, yeah, that would be the best course of action. They were outnumbered, outgunned, and absolutely not prepared for this. But it was Luffy's call, he was the captain. Keeli had no say in the matter. So, expectantly, she looked at Luffy, waiting for orders.
"Run from the Marines?" Luffy looked incredulous. "No. Never!"
