I was getting ready to head down to the pool when Leah walked in looking exhausted. The smile couldn't be erased from her face.

"How was it?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't give too many details.

She sighed and leaned back against the door, letting her shoes fall to the floor. "Amazing. Not at first, but after that, it was amazing."

"No regrets?"

"None at all. I'm telling you, Reg, I waited for the right one."

"So, are you guys like a thing now?"

"I don't know. Maybe. For the summer at least."

"You didn't talk about it?"

Then the smile faded. "Don't judge, okay?" I knew bad news was coming. "He kind of has a girlfriend back home," she bit her lower lip waiting for my reaction. When I didn't give much of one, she continued. "Jordi. They break up every summer then get back together, but he's not sure he wants her back this time."

We lounged by the pool all afternoon. She filled me in about Jordi and Adam's odd relationship. Hearing about those two made me happy to be single.

They met during freshman year of high school and it was lust, not love, at first sight. Jordi was the type of girl who knew how pretty she was, and she used her looks to get whatever she wanted. She wanted Adam but also wanted him to work for her attention so she made him chase her. He cared about her, loved being around her family, but he didn't love her. Nor did she love him. When summer came she ended their relationship because she wanted freedom to have fun while he was visiting his dad in Myrtle Beach. When he returned home they got back together. They were comfortable around each other and both had a fear of being alone. It made sense to them and Leah tried her best to have it make sense to me.

The next few days were the same. Leah would see Adam at night and come back to our condo around midnight. They began acting like a couple, and I had to admit, they were cute together. When she told him about our Saturday night plans he was surprisingly okay with it.

We went to the mall Saturday morning. I was much more conservative than Leah but I agreed to let her pick out a dress for me. With her blonde hair she looked good in everything, and after trying on seven dresses she settled on a very short black dress. The neckline was a deep v all the way down to her navel. She had a pair of six-inch heels to wear with the dress. Then it was my turn.

My hair is dark so Leah immediately went for a red dress.

"You'll look hot in this one! Go put it on!" She handed me this little number that was barely longer than the dress she had chosen for herself.

Standing in the dressing room by myself, I loved how I looked. The dress hugged my curves and covered me where I needed to be covered.

The club was packed. We could barely move through the crowd. If Leah hadn't taken my hand and pushed our way through, I wouldn't have stayed. We found the bar and started out with a couple shots of tequila. I needed something to take the edge off, something to calm my nerves. When she told Adam about our plans he helped us get fake IDs.

Leah and I danced together. I normally wasn't a fan of loud bass but I needed a fun night out. When the next song started I knew it wasn't Leah's hands on my hips anymore.

Frankie Joe was the hottest boy at Sedona High School. With his long brown hair, hazel eyes, and gauged ears, he was the closest thing to a rock star our small town had. Watching him was the best part of gym class and, like every other girl at school, I had a huge crush on him. I even talked to him a few times outside of class.
