Emilia's POV:-
I never thought I would see the day when Louis the certified germophobe would nurse a patient ill with a contagious disease. Even more unimaginable to me was that I would be the patient in such a scenario. Yet this is exactly what happened and I got to see a caring side of Louis that I didn't even know existed.
The next morning was filled with both good and bad news. First Samantha called me to let me know she was pregnant and expecting her first child with Logan. The second not-so-good news was that she came to know about her pregnancy after she broke her leg and ended up in hospital.
" I tripped on the stairs. Luckily the baby's fine." Samantha tells me.
I am overjoyed by the thought of becoming an aunt for the second time but that also left me to fend for myself during my illness. Mom would be busy taking care of Samantha, and I wasn't so selfish as to ask her to choose me over taking care of Samantha who probably needed her more.
I didn't test positive for Covid but I was ill with a very bad case of flu and I was barely aware of my surroundings most of the time thanks to fever. For the first couple of days, I barely ate anything and kept forgetting to take my medicine. Until one day a frustrated-looking Louis barged into my room.
" Why aren't you eating anything?" He thundered looking every bit an autocrat. Yet I am too exhausted to care.
" I don't feel like eating anything."
" I don't know what to do with you, Emilia. You don't like servants entering your bedroom. I too like my privacy but right now you need someone to take care of you. If you don't want the servants to do it then you need to let me instead. "
" What are you going to do?" I ask cautiously. He begins taking off his suit jacket, his muscles flexing beneath his shirt.
" I am going to make you eat something first. I am also going to feed you your medicines since I am sure you have been forgetting to take them ." My face blushes at the truth of his statement.
" Also you will let me do as I please while you are ill. I will do what I can to help you but you need to cooperate. No objections whatsoever. If you end up having a fever I will drag you to the hospital or bathe you myself. Or I will complain to your Mom. One thing is for sure you need someone to keep an eye on you."
He proceeded to then bully me into finishing my soup and even eating the fried chicken cooked for me. At six am he shakes me awake and forces a bunch of tablets down my throat. Throughout the day, he keeps popping in to check on me. He's like an overprotective and scary mother hen.
" Are you not going to work these days? I thought you had a lot of royal duties to do." I say exasperated.
" I have taken the next couple of days off. Remove the blanket, Emilia. You are still running a fever. " He orders.
I roll my eyes and do as he says. Being sick has made me cranky yet deep down I am grateful to him. He even watches the 2005 movie version of Pride and Prejudice with me just because I told him I was feeling gloomy. He keeps sitting beside my bed till my fever goes down. He's so tired that he falls asleep on the bed beside me.
On the second day I wake up feeling warmer then usual. When I open my eyes I am flabbergasted to find that I have literally draped my entire body over Louis's. I have one keg on top of his while my head is perched on his chest. I am flustered as I find Louis watching me with narrowed eyes.
" I was sleeping soundly until I felt something warm snuggle into my chest and rub herself all over me like an oversize cat. Turns out it was you." He says.
