My beautiful Lily,

When I look at you, I can't stop myself from staring. Those beautiful eyes. If only you knew how my universe resided in those reflections of lights. The brown pool of warmth duped in the whites of stars. My little lily. You stand as my mere life support, a veil between life and death.

And someday, I'm going to pour my heart out to you.

Chapter: 2

Against the wall

"Welcome to the fourth year of Business Analytics : International Business Management. The most anticipated year for all the students in our college." Started Prateek, our class representative. I could see the huge grins on almost everyone's faces. They knew what it meant to be in this course in the last year. The-

"BATCH SHADI. Yes, I can see it on your faces. But since it's part of my responsibility to read out the official message from the board to you. I will." Prateek, the slim dude known for his crazy glasses and sharp wits. Ain't no one could beat him in chess.

The class roared at the mere mention of the subject "Yearly organised batch shadi".

"Class, unless you guys quiet down a bit, I can't read it out." It quieted down a bit and he read it out.

"The yearly batch shadi, organised by the fourth year students of the business department, this year will note the following changes. The board has decided that as per the appeal from other courses, volunteers are to be allowed and if the preparations witness any sort of violence or fights, the event will be called off without any further notices." It received a lot of boos. Of Course this new clause had to be officially added since last year's event caused a big scandal about the college itself.

"The event may receive fundings from the families but the final numbers are to be reported to the principal's about a month before the event." Now this was something big. To involve the families with the fundings? This was going to be a big event.

The scandal previous year raised questions at our college but also served as a promotion. This course saw about 15% raise in the student count. Though a fairly large number of high school pass outs applied, only the selected ones got in: the academic overachievers or kids with powerful family backgrounds.

Now, you must be wondering, reading the story from my lenses, who am I and where do I stand amongst this whole elite or academic competition stata.

My ID card says it's Aadriti Arora, daughter of the world class fashion designer Naintara Arora and the businessman Sabhya Arora. I'm their spoiled only daughter but in my defence, I did use their resources the best I could and still do, being awarded as an academic achiever for years straight.

Now back to the issue at hand, the college notice. "Few other rules and details, that I'll discuss with the societies that'll take part in the organising and stuff." He turned his screen off and looked at the students .

"This is the start of the year, the seventh semester will be for the observation and ranks determined and during the break after the semester finals, we'll have a voting session. As you might already know, the most popular girl." a slight smile to me. "And the most popular guy." A smile and nod at Lekh, the boy with stars in his eyes. As the girls called him.

"They'll be chosen as the bride and the groom for our annual batch shadi."He finished and a loud hooting followed.

Lekh, the arrogant basketball captain, who also happened to be the college heartthrob. With his wavy hair flowing dramatically and that million dollar grin winking at any and every alive female specimen.
