Four Weeks Later

Wars on average last for three to four months, but this one surprisingly went on for a few weeks. What's even better, Paul and Derek have managed to avoid any fatal attacks that came their way, despite getting their clothes dirty and a few smudges on their faces. The boys are hiding behind a large boulder they found.

"Okay, we've made it this far, but we can't get too comfortable." Said Derek. "What should we do?" Asked Paul. An explosion suddenly occurs. Derek peeks from behind to see what happened, but ducks out of sight a second later. "Get down!" He said. A bunch of men come running in two separate directions "Uh, I think we've got company." Paul said. "We're surrounded!" Derek said.

There were too many men to count. "Can we take them all?" Asked Paul. "Maybe not at once. Go see what caused the explosion, I'll handle the men." Said Derek. "Are you sure?" Paul asked. "I know what I'm doing, Paul, don't worry about me." Derek said.

Hesitant to leave his co-brother in-law's side, Paul emerges from their hiding place to find where the explosion came from. Not a minute too soon, a bullet flies by and grazes Paul's arm. He lets out a cry of pain, then hears a cry for help calling his name. Recognizing the voice, Paul runs back to where he came from. The pleas didn't last very long, but Paul wasn't ready to give up.

"Derek!!" Called Paul. The sound of coughing catches his attention. After a few more minutes of running, Paul finds Derek in the same spot he was, but he's struggling to get up. Knowing something was wrong, Paul runs over to his fallen partner and rolls him onto his back, only to notice a bloodstain on his shirt.

"What happened?" Paul asked. "One of the men and I got into a duel, resulting in the two of us stabbing each other." Said Derek. "Oh dear." Said Paul worriedly. "Paul, your arm is bleeding." Derek said. "I didn't see who did it, but a bullet grazed me." Said Paul. "You better get yourself bandaged before you wind up with an infection." Said Derek. "That goes double for you, Derek. Yours looks bad." Paul said. "No, I'm not gonna make it. You'll have to go on without me." Derek said.

Paul's eyes widen. "I can't do that! I'm not leaving you here to die!" He cried. "Paul..." Said Derek as he trailed off. "The more you talk, the more you waste your strength. Someone help me, please!!!" Yelled Paul. He looks back down at Derek, who has just closed his eyes. Paul shakes him, and he wakes up a little bit. "I'm just resting my eyes." Derek said. "Don't you dare close them!" Paul said.

Derek puts his hand on Paul's shoulder. "Go out there and finish the battle for me. I know you can do it... brother." Said Derek. Paul's eyes widen as soon as he heard that word slip from Derek's mouth, but his surprise turns back into sadness. "Not without you, I can't." Said Paul.

Though he's still breathing, Derek slowly closes his eyes again. It became too much for Paul, as it appeared his co-brother in-law has died. The distraught Beatle buries his face in his hands and cries some more. But once his vision became clear again, Derek was gone. As in disappeared from view. One minute he was in front of Paul, and the next, he just vanished.

"I'll win for both of us, Derek. Even Amanda and Odette." Paul said. But he knew the first thing that needed to be done was get his arm bandaged, and that's just what he did.
