Tuesday

Day of the battle came. Amanda and Odette step outside the apartment to say goodbye to their husbands. Amanda, though she's sad, remembers to be strong. She gives Paul the longest hug they've ever done since their reunion two summers ago.

"Be safe, Paulie." Said Amanda. "I'll be home before you know it, I promise." Said Paul. He then places a small object in Amanda's hand, which happens to be his brooch. "You're giving me your brooch? Why?" Amanda asked. "If anyone on the battlefield sees that I'm protected by magic, they'll become suspicious." Paul said. Amanda nods understandingly. "Good point. I'll keep it safe for you." She said. Paul caresses her face. "I know you will." He said. The two share a bittersweet kiss.

At the same time, Derek and Odette release from theirs. "Promise me you'll be careful out there." Said Odette. "As someone who's had years of fighting experience, I can assure you I'll be fine. And for Amanda's sake, I'll protect Paul with my life." Said Derek. "I hope so. I've never seen her so strong about him leaving to do something extreme." Odette said. "She's become more flexible, that's for sure." Derek said. The two give each other one last hug. "I love you." Said Odette. "I love you too." Said Derek.

Odette's eyes fill with tears as Derek sings, telling her he'll never give up on their love as memories of their time together play.

When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
Well, there's so much they hold

And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

Well, I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got, yeah, we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not
And who I am

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up, I'm still looking up

Well, I won't give up on us
God knows I'm tough enough
We got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

Both Paul and Amanda couldn't hold back their tears during this bittersweet moment, but they smile at the same time.

The boys switch after saying goodbye to their wives. Paul goes to Odette while Derek goes to Amanda. "This is a lot riskier than when you went to Unscapable Island alone." Said Amanda. "Believe me, I'm a little nervous to fight in this war, but I'll be keeping Paul safe at the same time." Derek said. "Thank you, Derek. I know you'll protect each other while you fight for us." Amanda said. "Take care of your sister, alright?" Said Derek. "I promise." Said Amanda. The young swan princess hugs her brother in-law afterwards.

Meanwhile, Odette is saying goodbye to her brother in-law. "Are you sure you can manage fighting in the war?" Odette asked. "After being trained by Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, I'm positive I can make it through this." Said Paul. "I hope you're right. I'm worried enough for Derek, considering he risked his life during a lot of our adventures." Said Odette. "If anything happens, I promise to tell you first thing when I get home." Paul said. "If you get home." Odette said. Those words may have shaken Paul, but he knew Odette had a point. So he gives her an understanding nod before they hug bittersweetly.

Once they've said all their goodbyes, the boys catch up to each other and wave to their wives as they disappear from view. The girls wave back while the tears stream down both of their faces. "I hope they survive this war." Amanda said. "Me too, sis." Said Odette.
