Bored as bored can get, I wait for time alone with Felix today. To waste time, I listen in on Lady Elspeth's disastrous plans of a dinner party tonight with the Henrys.

The Henrys are a family who are as annoying as they sound..
Another rich family, part of the Catton's social league, and literally all of their names are Henry.
A night with them is like reading a bad Dr. Seuss book.

"Jocelyn what are we thinking? Juicy sirloin or maybe a healthy alternative like Ratatouille?"
Lady Elspeth dives into deep thought over what should be served for the Henry dinner tonight.
"Christ, the last time the Henrys made an appearance here at Saltburn they were growing wider than the banquet hall.."

"Do you remember how large they have gotten?" Elspeth begins to aggravate both Mum and I as we listen to her pointless banter and gossip

"Do you remember how large they have gotten?"
Elspeth begins to aggravate both Mum and I as we listen to her pointless banter and gossip.
"Especially Quiet Henry, Henry's sister, and Henry the IIV."

Mum grins politely to quickly shut her up.
"Ratatouille it is then, Lady Elspeth."

"Splendid!" She sighs in relief.
"Chef Joss you always make the right call!"

"Amaya dear, don't you agree? Ratatouille sounds delightful, or something else would be better?"
Elspeth turns in my direction, awaiting my opinion as I fiddle with a bowl of fruits.

I point my fork in her direction.
What would be better is your head barbecuing on a skewer.

"Oh Elspeth you've done it again!"
I conceal my thoughts of truth as I pop in a silencing grape from the tip of my fork. "Ratatouille would be absolutely divine!"

"Ratatouille it is then!" She flashes another fraud smile as she continues with her day.
"And I hope to be seeing you at dinner tonight Amaya! We can use all the help we can get, during an evening with the Henrys."

I roll my eyes instantly as Mother and I watch her stroll out of the kitchen in her expensive day-gown.

Losing my appetite, I toss the rest of my food into the bin.

"How do you do it Mum?" I sigh.
"Take orders from a wretched woman like that?
A woman so miserable, she evens makes fun of her dearest friends! Friends that she invited over."

"Cigarettes Amaya." Mum jokes.
"Late night wine and Yoga."

I begin to chuckle.
"But seriously Mother.. How?"

She sighs, pointing upwards at our surroundings.

"With this." She begins. "With my state of the art Kitchen, my love for creating gourmet food, my paycheck, our free living expenses, and most of all, having you my very best friend, here by my side."
