It takes you an additional five minutes to suck up the courage to get out of your cell.

Facing Levi again is both exciting and nerve-wracking. Exciting, because you can still feel the pressure of his lips on yours and you're so jittery that your head might explode. Nerve-wracking, because you can still feel the damn pressure of his lips on yours and you're so jittery that your head might fucking explode.

Eventually, you realize you have to suck it up at some point, because you're in the middle of a goddamn game. The game itself is hardly on your radar. It's an inconvenience at this point.

Steeling yourself, you push your cell door open. The silly little voice announced that all twenty participants survived, so you know he's alive. Everyone is.

Jesus. Should you start taking this game seriously at one point?

Nah. Levi first.

You push your cell door all the way open, frowning at the empty area. No one's here, and every other cell door is open- every door except one.

"Levi?" you try tentatively.

The cell door pushes open. Out steps Levi.

It's like everything comes back at once. Your elbow burns hot from where he touched you. God, you could melt into the floor just thinking about the kiss- how perfect it was despite the situation, despite the time crunch.

"Hi," Levi says awkwardly.

You force yourself to glare at him. "I almost said the wrong thing because of you."

Levi's eyebrows shoot to the top of his head. "Because of me?" he says incredulously. "That was just as much you as it was me. I almost said the wrong thing."

"That's all on you."

"It's on you too."

"You initiated."

"And you reciprocated."

You gape. "Well, what was I supposed to do, smack you?"

Levi gestures vaguely. "Well, if you didn't want to, then yeah."

Wait, backtrack. "Don't put words in my mouth," you say quickly, pointing at him. "I never said I didn't want to."

"So you wanted to. So it was as much you as it was me."

Your mouth opens, then closes. You can feel heat rising to your face. Levi's staring at you with those stupid grey eyes and you can't decide if you want to scream or kiss him again. "I'm hungry," you lie, pointing from Levi to the doorway. "Food?"

"Food," Levi agrees, and the two of you exit the cellblock.

Christ. If you thought the tension was bad leaving your apartment this morning, it's absolutely nothing compared to right now: with the two of you walking side by side, eyes pointedly focused forward, neither of you saying a word.

You want to scream. You want to kiss him again. You might just do both.

The two of you get to your makeshift camp in the library. There's not much to speak of it yet, just a space that you've carved out, but you've got half a mind to go to some of the other cells and steal some mattresses. If this game goes on a while- and at this rate, with no one dead yet, it will- then you've got to be prepared to sleep.

You make a beeline to the multitude of snacks you grabbed. "I grabbed a bunch, but after Bertolt, I have no idea what," you confess, rifling through your snack collection. "Preference?"

"Surprise me," Levi says from behind you.

Hm. You grab a packet of crackers- the ones you only took because Bertolt was grabbing them- and you toss them to him. Levi catches them with one hand. "There's other kinds, if you don't like those," you say, looking back to your stash. "Those ones come in a few flavors."
